Back from the soggy soggy East Coast......hope everybody had a great couple of weeks!!
HEY Baseball NUT! (I thought I saw "Bung Hole Kim in a sampan rowing towards Boston....naaahhhhhhh....the Sox would never trade for the biggest "opener" out of the pen....would they?) He never saw a lead he couldn't hand over.
Two star pick of the night is:
**Arz/SD (o) 9.5 runs
Gonzalaz may get 10 RBI's himself.....he is on fire! But the key to this one is the two woeful starters and bullpens that can't hold leads if they do get them.
Patterson (0-2, 9.90 ERA). He allowed six runs and seven hits over six innings of a 10-2 loss to San Francisco. Patterson's only other big league start this season was a 12-1 loss April 15 against Colorado in which he allowed five runs and five hits over four innings, striking out three and walking five.
AND
Loewer (0-1, 6.43 ERA). Loewer, who hadn't pitched since June 16, 2001, allowed five runs over 13 innings of his first two starts. However, he is coming off the shortest outing of his career as he gave up five runs and eight hits in just one inning Thursday, but didn't figure into the decision of San Diego's 8-6 win over Milwaukee. Loewer doesn't have a decision to accompany his 3.24 ERA in three career appearances against Arizona, including one start.
Single other pick of the night is:
S.F. -1.5 (-110)
Rockies have hardly got 4 runs in the series so far and they would have to get that many just tonight against SF. Not starring this as a pick because neither Chicon or Schmidt trend to stay beyond the 6th or 7th before the hook comes out. Two run win by the Giants should not be a problem though.
GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE!! Gotto go get that beer BNut promised me now!!
