We ended the month of May on a down note, going 0-2. But we can only hope for the same success in the month of June as we had in May. In the month of May we had 22 winning days and only 9 losing days. Lets start June off with a bang with a double dose of 5 STAR action!!!
5 STAR: Atlanta (Ramirez)(-$115) OVER NEW YORK (LEITER)
Al Leiter has not had much success against the Braves in the past. In his last 21 starts against Atlanta, Leiter is 5-10 and his team is 6-15 in those games. Horacio Ramirez has been pitching very well, in his last three starts he is 3-0 and has not allowed more than 3 earned runs in those starts. Atlanta feasts on left handed pitching, posting a record of 11-1 against lefties this season. Al Leiter is also only 9-18 after allowing one or less runs in his last start over the last three seasons and he is 3-11 when pitching on a Sunday, where the Braves are 8-0. Look for the Braves to take this one!
5 STAR: ST. LOUIS (TOMKO)(-$155) OVER Pittsburgh (Fogg)
The Cardinals try to avoid being swept at home today by the Pirates, and I look for them to get the job done and avoid the sweep. The Pirates have not swept a three game series at Busch Stadium since May 27-29, 1991. Pirates starter Josh Fogg is 1-3 with a 9.15 ERA in four career starts against St. Louis. The Cardinals' Brett Tomko has the second best home ERA in the National League (2.10) despite being 0-2 in five starts at Busch Stadium. Home favorites with a money line of -110 or higher that are outscoring their opponents by 0.5 or more runs per game on the season, after scoring 4 runs or less runs in three straight games are 134-55 over the last 5 seasons. Look for the Cardinals to get the win here!
Good luck,
John
