Friday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but...........
        13) My new hero? Wisconsin guard Tanner Bronson, former manager who played 12 minutes in Badgers' win vs Indiana Wednesday night. Wisconsin is down in numbers because of injuries and grade issues, so Bronson has stepped up to plate and become a contributor. Good for him.

        12) Indiana, Syracuse look like dead teams. Mike Davis' next game is against Steve Alford and Iowa. Davis needs to win, or get to Kinko's to update his resume.

        11) If Skip Prosser turns Cincinnati down, will Bearcats turn to Cincy native Louis Orr, who is having fine season at Seton Hall? Orr is on thin ice with powers-that-be in West Orange, despite a really good coaching job this year.

        10) Arizona lost three regular season games in row for first time since 1984, but weaseled a close win vs Oregon Ducks Thursday. Arizona will leave early, if they make NCAAs. .

        9) Not to say Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl is intense, but he got tossed out of stands at his son's high school game for mouthing off to refs.

        8) Michigan's performance Thursday night was as lackluster as any team I've ever seen play on TV. It was like watching a game down in the summer in tournaments in Florida. Ohio St beat them to punch on every cut, every loose ball, and most every rebound, and Buckeyes still needed to hit 15-24 from the arc to win in Ann Arbor. A shameful effort.

        7) Stay away from handicapping Idaho State games; they're schizophrenic. In two games last weekend, by half, Bengals were +9/-20, then -6/+31. How do you win by 25 when you were down six at the half, to team with a better record?

        6) The Caribbean World Series ended when the winning run scored from first base after a pop to short left field hit the shortstop in the head and bounced away from fielders.

        5) Pitchers and catchers report to major league camp next week, for those of us freezing up here in the northeast.

        4) Referee Dick Bavetta worked his 2,135th NBA regular season game Wednesday, putting him atop the list for NBA refs (He has also worked 214 playoff games, 23 in the Finals). He wears five pairs of socks when he refs, and jogs eight miles a day. Damn. He's 61 flippin' years old.

        3) NBA record for most consecutive free throws made is 94, by Micheal Williams, in 1993.

        2) My only opinions on Tocchet-gate (other than Janet Jones being my hero) is this: I'd be lot more alarmed about a state trooper being mixed up in this mess, than a hockey coach.

        1) The media is pathetic; they build up people to be bigger than life, so if they fall, it is great story. Wayne Gretzky's wife likes to gamble; don't most of us? All of sudden the guy gets barraged with questions like he's freakin' Saddam Hussein. Give it a rest people; just report facts. All of this will play out in due time.
