NAIA player sets free throw record with 133 straightAssociated Press

DES MOINES, Iowa -- Northwestern College's Deb Remmerde's streak of 133 straight free throws -- the longest in organized basketball history -- is over.

Remmerde missed for the first time in 23 games during Northwestern's 95-66 win over Dakota Wesleyan in an NAIA game Wednesday night.

Remmerde broke the record for consecutive free throws at all levels of basketball last week when she hit her 127th straight, surpassing the boys' high school mark of 126 set by Daryl Moreau of New Orleans De La Salle in 1978-79.

The NCAA record is 69, set by Jamie Visness of Concordia-Moorhead in 2002-03. Micheal Williams holds the NBA's longest streak at 94, set in 1993.

Remmerde ranks second in the nation in scoring, averaging 29.8 points. She is the state's career leading scorer in girls' high school basketball.
