because the guy financed the whole operation. and you know damn well he was playing when he was involved with this all. the investigation goes back 6yrs and imagine how long before it was going on prior to the investigation.

First, fixing games and betting on sport are two different things.

Second, read the article. The bets were mostly football and basketball. He declined to identify the NHL players who made wagers, but said none bet on hockey.

IMO another clear example that sports are NOT fixed as some cry. If they bet on their own sport it would be BIG news.

Bry, where in that article do you come to the conclusion games are fixed? I bet on sports. I don't fix games.

I've never said all games/sports are fixed. i dont believe that. But i know that for a fact that some games are fixed. Here's how it is. Lets just say that these guys who were NHL players never bet on the NHL games right?? you say thats okay. I say nope thats 100% not. And here is why. If/when a nhl player dealing with a bookie gets in a large debt, typically 6 figures or so. Instead of simply paying the debt, the bookmaker says, hey make sure tonights game doesnt go over the posted total or be sure not to cover the -1 1/2 goals tonight, just win by 1 goal and i'll squash your wagers. If you think this doesnt happen your NUTS!!!

Wth all due respect, and I know what came down in the article, do you honestly believe that these players simply bet on baseball and basketball and didn't bet on hockey, even though they control what goes on in the game?

FYI, if I recall history correctly, college games, more specifically, college basketball games ARE fixed

Even if they don't bet on their own games to "influence" the outcome, you mean to tell me a player in a league with inside info wouldn't bet on a game in their own sport. Knowing they were out until 5am at a strip club with a goalie who they just played, or hearing something through the grapevine about an unreported injury. If you are betting on other sports to "win" or make cash, wouldn't this be the smartest thing to do? There are cappers on here with different areas of specialty.

My thoughts as well. IF you are betting on ONE sport you are now open to ALL sports. Like a candy shop. It all tastes good, some sour, some sweet, some just so so...

yes I do. I don't believe for one minute the autorities would cover up for them.
