Tuesday's List of 13: Reflections on Super Bowl weekend
        13) NFL changed the football after every play in Super Bowl, which is stupid in an indoor stadium, but smart if you want to sell a lot of game-used balls on QVC or Home Shopping Network later on. This is what happens when lawyers run a sport; no thought is given to the quality of the game itself.

        12) Odd that Harry Carson got elected into the Hall of Fame, but Giants haven't retired his number, while Phil Simms' #11 has been retired, but he's not in the Hall of Fame. Bill Parcells was said to be overjoyed (seriously) at Carson's selection.

        11) Good touch having former Super Bowl MVPs present in Detroit; only three living MVPs missed the game. Jake Scott was in Australia, while Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana, who combined to win eight Super Bowls, both skipped the event. NFL paid each MVP $1,000 plus expenses (hotel, free Cadillac for weekend, etc) but Montana was said to be asking $100,000 for his presence. No word on why Bradshaw wasn't there, but there was rumor it was also money-related.

        10) Has any QB ever had a better name than Bart Starr?

        9) Seattle's loss keeps the streak alive that no coach has ever won Super Bowl with two different teams; Holmgren, Parcells both lost with their second team, while Vermeil, Shula lost with their first team, and Reeves lost with both his teams.

        8) Is John Madden getting inducted because of his coaching or broadcasting?

        7) Bill Cowher has 142 wins in 14 years, and a title; he'll have his day in Canton, and it'll be awful crowded on the highway from Pittsburgh that day, heading west.

        6) Glad to see Warren Moon get into the Hall of Fame; he won five Grey Cups in his six years north of the border, and since it is the Pro Football Hall of Fame, that has to count. Wonder if we'll see lot of Edmonton Eskimo fans in Canton this August.

        5) Former Angel catcher Benjie Molina is still a free agent, in one of the most botched free agencies of all-time. He's a good player; how can no one have gobbled him up yet? And what exactly is his scumweasel agent doing for him?

        4) Brian Cashman held a vote, and 20 Bronx baseball scouts voted 17-3 against the Bombers signing Mike Piazza. If I am a Padre fan, my phone is on speed dial to Petco, wondering why the hell they signed Piazza instead of Molina.

        3) Clemson Tigers are now 0-52 in hoops at Chapel Hill. With ACC now playing an unbalanced schedule, you'd think the schedule gods would cut Clemson a break and not make them go there every year.

        2) If I could choose my Final Four this season, based solely on how much I like watching teams plays, I would choose UAB, Tennessee, George Washington and either Memphis or Washington.

        1) If Roger Staubach had entered politics after playing in the NFL, he'd be President by now. Who wouldn't vote for the guy?
