  • We all should have seen it coming

I am not one to blame refs for my losses but the super bowl was horrendous. I had 3500 on sea +4.5 and it was a tough loss to swallow. I know it was a poorly called game but that the way shit happens sometimes. All of us that took sea were suckered into it. We all should have known there was no way that pitt was gonna lose after beating indy. The nfl was planning on indy finally getting to the super bowl with the pats down this year. When pitt beat indy, bettis and the steelers were too good a story for them not to win. So we should not blame the officials, we should blame ourselves for having faith in sea, which was the better team, but the better team does not always win. congrats to all the steelers fans. And good luck to all on future wagering endeavors.

I don't agree that Seattle was the better team...not by a long shot! "Maybe" they played slightly better than Pittsburgh on Sunday, but Pittsburgh was the better team going into the game, again, by a longshot!! With 2:00 to go in the game, Seattle had "6" more yards than Pittsburgh, with the T.O's at 2-1. That last drive by Seattle was against a prevent 'D', so looking at the final stats means nothing. Seattle missed 2 FG's and had absolutely horrible clock management at the end of the 1st half. THAT's Seattle's fault, not Pittsburgh's or the referees. It was pretty much a dead even game, and Seattle pretty much got what they derseved.... they simply didn't take advantage of critical situations. Pittsburgh did. End of story. The NFL's and/or referees preferences had absolutely nothing to do with it, except in the eyes of those who lost money on Seattle!

Anyone else notice the ABC pre-taped shots of various players/coaches holding the SB trophy? I reran the game through TiVo and would you believe there were 7 different PIT spots to 3 SEA spots? 7:3 ratio of promos. Even ABC had to know.

Yea, I mentioned this same thing to my friend. I didn't bet the game so I don't think my judgement is "clouded" by money. IMO, it was obvious that the NFL wanted Pitt to win. Yes, Mike Holmgren coached like a clown yesterday, but the holding penalty that nullified "butterfingers" Stevens catch at the 1 changed the whole game. You could call holding on every play if "that" was holding. Coming from an impartial fan, that game was brutally officiated...nuff said.

I had lunch with my dad today. He doesn't bet and is not a fan of either team. Over lunch he commented how poor the officiating was.

Seattle D was one of the if not the leading sack team in the NFL this season, and Pitt doesn't get 1 holding call against them? And the times that Seattle makes a big play it come back on a holding call or a BS PI call.

I'll be honest, I lost $20.00 on a Sea ML/under parlay. I've been in a real bad slump so I was not going to go crazy on that game. That being said, people are real upset on how the games have been called through out the playoffs. IMO it would be real nice to see the NFL take a hit on this, but by time next season comes around all will be forgotten. The NFL has got to do something about how the games are called and who is calling them. I use to like wrestling, but the more I watched it and saw how fake it was I stopped watching and the NFL is turning into that. BRING BACK THE XFL!!!!!!

The score was 14/10 Seattle, Roff didn't get in, nobody goes 75 untouched so a great "gadget" & a field goal for Pitt. Was no pushing off just a touch & last TD for Sea. Oh yes a big time loss, just hate to have the refs to thank for it.

                        IMO...
Seattle wasted too many good opportunities early on (poor execution + stupid penalties + dropped passes) in addition to some questionable/bad calls by teh zebras all in all - kind of a choke!
They let a good team hang around and Pittsburgh made them pay for it. Seattle should have been up double digits early - they weren't and when Pitts got their shit together - they rolled.
Not an aesthetically pleasing game at all, even from an objective POV.
