    2 Units on New York Yankees -1½ -130 (Contreras - R, Knotts - R)

The last time Detroit scored a meaningful amount of runs, 1st baseman Carlos Pena hit three homers and they still lost. Pena is listed as doubtful tonight with a calf injury. I'm guessing the Yankees payroll is 5X of Detroit's. No letdown for the Bombers as they had yesterday off after gaining the momentum back after back-to-back victories over Boston Tuesday & Wednesday. Detroit is a disgrace offensively and they proved it again this week by scoring two runs apiece against Cleveland's Bere and Rodriguez. The Yanks were 8-1 last year against the Tigers and I'm just asking them to coast tonight by two runs. Jose Cortreras makes his first start in pinstripes. Last Saturday he threw four scoreless innings against Toronto. If he can keep the Blue Jays without ! a run, he's capable of no-hitting the Tigers. Detroit's 4-19 home record is the worst in baseball and probably the worst in organized sports in quite a while. "The Animal" owes a big THANK-YOU to the creator of run-lines in baseball

Not much to report today. Billy Coleman, from the Northcoast "stable" -- I'm told he's swept his baseball picks three days in a row -- has a 3* play on Oakland/Kansas City OVER.

Rocketman has an opinion on San Francisco.

Magliosa had a 1* on Boston/Toronto OVER, but I got it too late to play, much less post, sorry. He's hit 12 of his last 14 picks, at least we can see if he keeps up his run.
