Got back on track yesterday going 4-3, cashing in both 5 STAR plays! These are my plays for Thursday........
5 STAR: FLORIDA (PENNY)(-$120) OVER Montreal (Ohka)
Going to ride the red hot Marlins who have won six straight games as they look to return the favor and sweep the Expos out of town. The Marlins are 28-13 in home games after a win by 4 runs or more over the last 3 seasons, they are 36-18 in home games after allowing 2 runs or less over the last 3 seasons and 63-38 in home games after allowing 4 runs or less 3 straight games since 1997. The Expos are 1-6 after 4 straight games where they had 7 or less hits over the last 3 seasons and they are 2-9 when revenging a loss where they scored 1 run or less this season. The pitching match up also favors the Marlins. Brad Penny has had success against the Expos in the past, posting a career record of 7-2 in ten starts with an ERA of only 2.08 and a WHIP of 1.082. The Expos starter, Tomo Ohka is 0-2 in four career starts against the Marlins with an ERA of 3.94. The Fish are also 18-6 when playing on a Thursday over the last three seasons. Look for Florida to complete the sweep today.
3 STAR: Seattle (Mech)(-$110) OVER MINNESOTA (RADKE)
Brad Radke has not had much success against Seattle in the past. Brad Radke was the only Twins pitcher to lose in last weekend's series at Seattle and gets his second straight start against the Mariners. Radke who is 5-4 with a 5.43 ERA this season gave up five runs and nine hits in five innings on Friday. He fell to 5-9 with a 5.38 ERA in 17 career starts against Seattle. Gil Mech has been pitching very well this season. Meche who is 6-2 with an ERA of 2.86 won his last start against Kansas City last Thursday, when he allowed just one run and six hits while striking out seven in 6 2/3 innings. Mech is 3-1 with a 3.47 ERA in four career starts against Minnesota. Seattle is 10-1 in road games against American League Central opponents this season and they are 12-0 when revenging 2 straight losses versus an opponent as a home favorite over the last 3 seasons. Also, Brad Radke is only 2-7 when pitching on a Thursday over the last 3 seasons. Look for the Mariners to get the win here.
1 STAR: COLORADO (EARLTON)(+$120) OVER Los Angeles (Perez)
Going to ride the Rockies here today against the suddenly struggling Dodgers. The Dodgers pitching has been caring them all season, but they have not been able to get it done at Coors field, and I look for the Rockies bats to keep it going today. The Rockies are 7-0 at home this season against left handed starters, 6-2 as a home underdog, 11-1 at home against division opponents and 12-3 in home day games. Road favorites with a money line of -110 or higher after scoring 1 or less runs in a loss to a division rival, and are starting a well rested pitcher who is working on 5 or 6 days rest are only 18-46 since 1997. Good National League offensive teams that are scoring 4.8 or more runs per game on the season, after 4 straight wins by 4 runs or more are 16-4 over the last 5 seasons. Look for the Rockies to complete the sweep.
