Monday's List of 13: Wrapping up the sports weekend..........
        13) Bitter defeat for Washington Huskies Sunday night; they were up three with :02.1 left, but Stanford executed a pass to halfcourt, then a pass to near sideline, where the shooter was fouled (barely) with 0:00.2 left. Hernandez canned three foul shots, Stanford won in OT, and Huskies went home unhappy

        12) Eldrick Woods remains an intimidating figure on the links. Just his name on the leaderboard makes other players play as if they were 18-handicappers at the local club. It looked like Nathan Green would win, in just his third PGA event, but not with Woods around. Was there any doubt he was winning in the playoff?

        11) By the way, Woods won, but no one lost. Olazabal, Green both earned $448,800, so even though they were unhappy to lose, lets face it, they almost have enough money already to keep their Tour cards for next year (only Green would need it)

        10) Another golfer who appeared on TV Sunday, guy named Henrik Bjornstad, was ranked 900th in world before this week; thats how many great golfers there are in this world.

        9) Syracuse lost its last four games; look at their schedule; if the name on top said "Murray State" and not "Syracuse" it would be an NIT resume. They better start winning games, or else they'll they'll be losing at home in an NIT game, too.

        8) Am watching Absence of Malice as I type this: I have two observations:

        a) Sally Field was cute as the proverbial button
        b) The guy who played the editor in the newsroom was same guy who played Mr Ducksworth in The Mighty Ducks.

        7) Indiana put on one of the all-time hideous performances in their loss at Minnesota Sunday; 0-6 Gophers started a pair of walk-ons, and walked away with 61-42 rout, in game that was 34-16 at the half. Hoosiers are 0-3 on road in Big 11, and lack an intimidating presence with White out injured.

        6) Kentucky has now won four games in row, roaring back in last two home games from double digit deficits; their talent is not what you'd think it would be, but Tubby is getting a lot out of this group. Bad loss for the Razorbacks, though.

Recruiting is part of coaching; Tubby has to do better job of getting talent to Lexington, which I'm guessing is something he hears every ten minutes or so.

        5) Mike Piazza signs with the Padres; hope the centerfielder in San Diego likes to back up throws to second base.

        4) Kobe Bryant scored 81 last week, against Raptor team that obviously felt physical contact is unethical. Against real team this Sunday, he had 39 (12-28 from floor, 12-14 from line) in a loss at Detroit. I wonder if he soaks his shooting elbow after each game, the way pitchers do?

        3) Princeton is 3-12. The last time Tigers were 3-12 in hoops, well, I don't think they've ever been 3-12. Coach Scott is guy who does not watch when his players shoot free throws (not kidding). This keeps up, and he won't have to watch anything much longer.

        2) ESPNU has six hours of coverage Wednesday of Signing Day for college football, a regional holiday in the south. Who wins bowl games from 2008-2011 is going to be determined by who signs on what dotted line Wednesday, and for the first time, it is going to get extensive extensive national coverage.

        1) I hear there is a football game on TV next Sunday; if you're a Seahawk fan, the next week is going to be one of the most exciting of your life, it'll seem 15-20 days long. If you're not a Seattle fan, and I am not, it means that on Monday morning, everyone else is 0-0 again, as the offseason begins.
