Strickland is just happy to be playing today. Against Purdue on Jan. 21, the senior guard banged his right knee. Two days later, he was so sore he couldn't run on it, and in Tuesday's loss at Iowa, he dressed but did not play. After missing another day of practice this week, Strickland practiced hard on it Friday and said he is ready to go.

"The doctor said I irritated the kneecap and that there was some swelling in the tendon,'' Strickland said. "They put a needle in the knee yesterday and gave me some anti-inflammatory medicine and a pain killer. It still hurts, but I think I can play through it now."

With IU point guards Lewis Monroe and Earl Calloway struggling, Strickland may play that position a little. Strickland primarily played point guard in his first three seasons before moving to shooting guard this year.

He practiced at the point Friday and said he's happy to help, if needed.

"I think I could play either the point or the shooting guard spot against a team like Minnesota,'' Strickland said. "They like to press and really pressure you all over the court, so this is a game where I feel like I could help out in terms of bringing the ball up court."
