X owns Dayton... Dayton hasn't beaten X in Cincy since 1981, ...and dayton is losing a couple of their best players ( seniors )... think they win this game by 18+ ...from the Dayton paper
As if today's basketball game with Xavier wasn't already enough of a challenge, the University of Dayton Flyers encountered another obstacle Friday afternoon. They learned that starters Monty Scott and Logan White will not be able to play against the Musketeers.
A bone scan revealed that Scott, UD's second-leading scorer, now has a stress fracture in his foot. He will be sidelined for at least two weeks and possibly a month. He could miss eight games. White has not fully recovered from a mild concussion he suffered in Wednesday night's game with Saint Bonaventure.
UD Coach Brian Gregory said he probably will start Marques Bennett in place of Scott, and Warren Williams instead of White, but Bennett has a tender ankle and may not be ready.
Gregory got the bad news from trainer Nate Seymour on Friday. Scott has been bothered for a month by a sore left foot, which was diagnosed as plantar fasciitis. He sat out the Richmond game on Jan. 14 but came back after 11 days off and reported no soreness after playing 32 minutes against Temple.
During the last two games, however, he had some soreness that was no longer in the arch. The foot, which had been x-rayed earlier, was scanned, and the stress fracture appeared.
White was injured at the end of the first half Wednesday when he took an elbow to the chin from Saint Bonaventure's Tyler Relph, who was trying to split two UD defenders. "He jawed me and I fell on the floor and hit my head," White said. "I got a mild concussion and my jaw is pretty sore." In spite of the injury, White played nine minutes in the second half.
