Friday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but................
              13) When Chuck Noll took over the Steelers in late 60's, one of tools they used in drafting players was to look at academic transcripts, to see which players were workers, and who had a tendency to coast and avoid challenges. That is part of how he took a traditionally poor franchise and made them champs.

              12) Oregon State's basketball team has now lost last six times they played an overtime game.

              11) Charles Barkley's analysis of the Minnesota-Boston trade, a seven-player trade: "One side got Phyllis Diller, the other Roseanne Barr" mocking Olowokandi, Blount, two centers in the deal.

              10) Eldrick Woods hit only one fairway Thursday, shooting 71 on a course that averaged 69.75. He'll have to do better on Friday, playing the more difficult course, where the average score was 73.9 Thursday.

              9) The second course was so much harder that lot of players considered Jesper Parnevik's 67 a better score than Brandt Jobe's 65, which was scored on the easier course.

              8) Memphis is going to cruise through Conference USA with zero losses; will it be enough to get them a #1 seed and will it be enough to toughen them up for tense March contests?

              7) Buffalo blew a 19-point lead in last year's MAC title game to Ohio U; they got some revenge Thursday, beating Ohio U 70-51. Bulls are 5-3 in league play so far this season.

              6) With Seton Hall drilling NC State this week, Georgetown's win over Duke, the Big East is going to dominate the at-large bids on Selection Sunday.

              5) All of which means a lot of tense humans all over country during Championship Week, since losses in the conference tournaments are going to be more costly than usual, even in leagues like Big 12, SEC and Pac-10.

              4) Penn State QB Michael Robinson tried his hand at WR this week at Senior Bowl practice; he struggled at QB.

              3) Mike Martz has an interview this week with the Raiders, as Oakland stalls so they can interview Steeler OC Whisenant. With the receivers Oakland has, Martz must be an intriguing candidate for Al Davis.

              2) Steelers won their first two Super Bowls in the two years before Seahawks started play.

              1) Chuck Noll, who won four Super Bowls as the coach of Steelers, had 12-30 record in his first three years as coach. In today's society, he might not have gotten a fourth year.
