Made a small profit yesterday on a card that I did not really care for going 2-1 (+.30 of a unit). I'm looking for a BIG day today, these are my plays...........
5 STAR: ST. LOUIS (TOMKO)(-$150) OVER Houston (Robertson)
Jeremy Robertson got the win against Brett Tomko and the Cardinals in Houston last week, but I look for him to get hit hard in this rematch. The Cardinals are 11-2 in home games versus a National League starting pitcher whose ERA is 6.20 or worse over the last 3 seasons. Robertson's ERA is 6.37 in his eight starts this season, but it gets even worse on the road where his ERA balloons to a hefty 8.31 and the Cardinals are averaging 7.7 runs per game against left handed starters this season. The Astros are struggling with the bats right now also, while the Cardinals bats have been hot. Look for the Cardinals to get the win here!
3 STAR: SAN DIEGO (PEAVY)(-$125) OVER Milwaukee (Franklin)
Wayne Franklin pitched a 2 hit shutout against Jake Peavy and the Padres just last week, but I like the Padres to win this rematch. The lineup that Franklin faced last week was one of the worst hitting lineups I have ever seen at the major league level. With most of their regulars back in the lineup for the Padres, I don't see Franklin having the same success. The Brewers are 4-16 after scoring 1 run or less in two straight games over the last 3 seasons. Home teams that have a winning percentage of 38% or worse that are revenging a same season 3 game sweep at the hands of their opponents and the opponent is a team with a losing record are 14-3 since 1997. Look for the Padres to take this one.
3 STAR: Oakland (Zito)(-$155) OVER MINNESOTA (ROGERS)
Another rematch of last week when the Twins with Rogers on the mound beat Zito and the A's. I look for Oakland to win this rematch. Barry Zito is 11-1 as a road favorite of -150 to -200 over the last 3 seasons and the A's as a team are 37-9 as a road favorite of -150 to -200 over the last 3 seasons. The Twins are only 2-14 as a home underdog of +125 to +150 over the last 3 seasons. The A's are also 6-0 when playing after an off day. Road favorites with a money line of -150 to -200 with a hot bullpen whose ERA is under 2.00 the last 10 games are 125-44 since 1997. The A's should get the job done here.
