The Ottawa Senators try to continue this season's domination of the Toronto Maple Leafs tonight when the teams close a two-game set at Scotiabank Place.
On Saturday, Mike Fisher had two goals and an assist and Dominik Hasek stopped all 23 shots he faced, as the Senators throttled Toronto, 7-0. Daniel Alfredsson also netted a pair of goals while Dany Heatley registered a goal and two assists on his 25th birthday, as Ottawa picked up its fourth win in its last six tries.
This was the Senators' 1,000th regular season game in team history, and they quickly turned it into a celebration. Alfredsson got things started just 39 seconds in, polishing Jason Spezza's pass off from the right side of the net to put Ottawa ahead for good.
Ottawa improved to 5-0 against their rivals this season, and the Sens have outscored the Maple Leafs a combined 23-2 in the last three meetings.
The Senators, with 68 points, are tied with Carolina for the best record in the Eastern Conference and NHL as a whole.
The Maple Leafs, meanwhile, have lost five consecutive games. In Saturday's defeat, Ed Belfour allowed seven goals on 41 shots for the Maple Leafs.
