Tony-your assessment seems quite good.
That being said and as you well known, one cannot simply evaluate the team solely on a position by position basis.
The intangibles like playing together as a cohesive unit and chemistry are just as important and unfortunately cannot be predicted at this point. Certainly players like Damon, Mueller and Millar will be missed not only for what they contributed on the field but also in the clubhouse.
I would be surprised if they get out of the gate fast, soar into first place and have a 5-10 game lead by the All Star Game.
Obviously this is where the manager comes into play and hopefully Francona will be able to blend the parts into a smooth running operation.
I think the raw ingredients will be in place(assuming Manny stays) for a pretty good season;whether it will be a VERY good season, well to coin the old cliche, "Only time will tell."

well said savage......you can not put a price on chemistry....thats why i do not know why we peddled cabrera.....but then again is chemistry overrated in baseball??? i do not know the answers obviosuly......i think we are in better shape than we were last week....If i had my druthers i would have damon in center, but they could not commit those dollars to him, which i can understand i suppose.....But hopefully crisp is the future....I saw him in new haven and he was phenominal......hustles his ass off and has pop in his bat......I was never a millar fan, but the team seems to have loved him......manny especially......I certainly will not be able to predict their outcome...but it would be nice to have a good year and a pennant......
