I'm kinda wrapped up with The Panthers because of my Superbowl Future with them at 9/1.
So I'll stay away from that game as far as posting purposes go.
The other game, however , is an ABSOLUTE STICKOUT.
Last week I liked Pittsburgh for the huge coaching advantage they enjoyed. Now they must travel to even more hostile territory to face a team with a World Class Coach ... and it's a big difference ... Make no mistake , Denver is a step up in class from Indy.
The line opened up last Sunday Night at Denver -3 . The Broncos are undefeated at home this year and are 4-0 at home in AFC title games. Historically, their home field has afforded them the most powerful advantage of all the NFL team stadiums. They played last Saturday, with gives them an extra day of rest. And by now every novice knows that the last time any team earned a trip to the Superbowl by winning 3 straight road games was in 1985 ... The Patriots. ( Carolina will also attempt to duplicate that feat later on Sunday afternoon. ) Also, Denver just eliminated New England and stopped their string of playoff victories , the longest streak in history. And there's always that business of dealing with the rarefied air. Add to the mix that Coach Cowher has been ordinary at best in playoff games , winning 8 and losing 9 .
Sounds convincing for Denver , doesn't it ?
But when I saw a line of -3 when it should be 7 1/2 ( I have Denver -1 at Pittsburgh in a flip flop ) right away up pops a Big Red Flag , and I immediately looked for reasons to play on the other side. ( You know by now how much I respect The Linesmaker )
The game will be won or lost on both Lines of Scrimmage ( as is the case with 100% of all games played ) and with Opportunity .... and I see Pittsburgh more than holding their own with all 3 issues. They will rattle Plummer and I expect at least one Pick 6 for The Steelers. They'll pound away and it will be Denver gasping for air in the 2nd half. Jake has learned to do exactly what Shanahan instructs him to do , but as we saw last week , under constant harassment , even the very best of quarterbacks looks nothing more than ordinary. If Jake must constantly ad - lib his way up and down the field , he will belong to The Steelers.
So this week I like Pittsburgh right back for a straight up win and a trip to Detroit. Take them at +4 , there are plenty of 3 1/2 's out there. Also, put a taste on the Money Line.
Top Play: Pittsburgh +4 and a lesser Money Line Wager.
As Always,
Best of Luck
