    PHILADELPHIA (26-22) at MONTREAL (31-17)

    PHI B MYERS -R (4-3, 2.59 ERA) vs MON J VAZQUEZ -R (4-2, 3.32 ERA)

The Phillies and the Expos wrap up their weekend series in Montreal. In Saturday's game, Wil Cordero's solo home run in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the Expos to a 3-2 victory over the Phillies as -130 home favorites. Vladimir Guerrero and Jose Macias each added a pair of hits for the Expos, who evened the series at one game apiece and won for the ninth time in 12 games. Pat Burrell and David Bell each belted solo homers for the Phillies, who managed just four hits and lost for the third time in seven games. Cordero led off the ninth inning and blasted Carlos Silva's high slider over the wall in left center to end the game. Silva (3-1) was dealt the loss after yielding the game-winning run in two- thirds of an inning. Brandon Duckworth started for Philadelphia and allowed two runs on six hits in six frames of work. He struck out four and walked one. Luis Ayala (5-1) posted the win out of the bullpen with two perfect innings of relief. Tomo Ohka pitched the first seven innings and surrendered two runs on four hits, while striking out seven batters. The Expos opened the scoring with a run in the first inning. Orlando Cabrera doubled with one out and headed to third on Jose Vidro's groundout. Guerrero then hit a grounder to short that should have ended the inning. However, Bell collided with shortstop Jimmy Rollins, allowing Cabrera to score on the infield single. Bell then stepped to the plate to lead off the second inning and belted Ohka's first pitch over the wall in left enter to even the game at 1-1. Montreal crossed the plate in the fifth inning to grab a 2-1 advantage. Macias led off the frame with a double when his grounder to third deflected off Bell's glove and rolled into the outfield. Duckworth retired the next two batters before Endy Chavez drilled a double to deep center to drive in Macias. The Phillies would even the score with another solo homer in the sixth. Burrell went deep to center with two outs for his 10th homer of the year. Montreal has hit five game-ending homers this season, while twenty four of the Phillies' 41 homers this season have been solo shots. Today's pitching matchup features Brett Myers of the Phillies against Javier Vazquez of the Expos. Myers has been performing perhaps even better than the club's best expectations. In all nine of his games, he has lasted at least six innings and he has not allowed more than four runs in any start. His ERA is tops among starting pitchers on the staff and he has allowed only 46 hits in 59 innings of work. The opposition is hitting just .214 against Myers. Vazquez will face the Phillies for the 17th time in his career. He is 7-3 with a 4.56 ERA against them. On Tuesday, Vazquez pitched seven solid innings, giving up three runs on seven hits as the Expos won, 6-4.
