Wednesday's List of 13: Short take answers to questions I haven't been asked...........
                13) The Big East is too big. 16 teams is ridiculous for league to have. The WAC tried it few years ago and that is how the Mountain West came to be, the league splintered.

                12) Eric Mangini was a nose tackle at Wesleyan College, the same school Bill Belichick went to.

                11) If you want to wager on the Super Bowl now, before you know who's playing, the AFC lays the NFC team 3.5 points.

                10) Indiana Hoosiers haven't won Big 11 title since 1993. That is the basketball title. That surprised me.

                9) Missouri Valley Conference (Southern Illinois, Creighton, Wichita State, Northern Iowa, etc....) is 5th-ranked league in country. Get to know their teams, because we'll be seeing a few of them in March.

                8) I could care less what team Alex Rodriguez plays for in the World Baseball Championships.

                7) There are NBA players making $5 million a year who never start for their teams. And they aren't all on good teams.

                6) NHL is only league who misses a year with work stoppage and their attendance goes up when they come back.

                5) You tell me how Sean Payton gets hired as a head coach but none of the Mikes (Sherman, Tice, Martz) have been.

                4) Not too many times you get fired and rehired in NFL, and don't have to move, but Norv Turner doesn't, as 49ers hired him after Oakland unceremoniously dumped him.

                3) If I owned an NFL team, I'd have a CEO-type head coach who oversaw the entire operation, but didn't run any one part of the game, except maybe special teams.

                2) Ken Whisenhunt, the offensive coordinator of the Steelers, may have cost himself a head coaching job by helping win at Indianapolis last week. Of course, other chances will open up down the road, probably, but one never knows for sure, and that is why the current system isn't good. It encourages guys to consider a scenario where a coach benefits by losing.

                1) After watching his sons play football the last two weeks, I wonder if Archie Manning still misses never having played in a playoff game (and the abuse that comes with losing one).
