Thanks John .. have a great day

Wisconsin won 10 of its last 12 games vs Minnesota, but are in tough spot here, as they beat physical Michigan State squad on Sunday, now travel for Tuesday game to play desperate Gopher team that already lost at home to Northwestern. Badgers are 3-2 in last five visits here, with wins by 2,5 and 8 points.

Western Michigan won five of its last six games vs Akron, with Zips losing last three visits to Kalamazoo by 8,16,9 pts. WMU is 1-1 in MAC, with home side winning both games; they're 3-8 for the season. Akron is 2-0 in MAC, winning 66-62 at Ball St. then beating Toledo 75-58 at home; they're 5-1 in last six games.

Buffalo beat Toledo twice last year, 56-54 at home, then 85-72 in MAC tourney, ending 0-7 skid vs Rockets; Bulls are 10-2 after OT loss at Northern Illinois Saturday, 84-82; they've lost four in a row at Toledo by 52,28,12 and 5 points. Toledo is 0-3 in MAC so far, losing by 4,8,17 points; two of the three were on road.

Originally, I was going to use Virginia Tech as pick here, since a young Tar Heel squad just won their ACC opener over NC State and is ripe to get beat on road by pretty good Hokie squad, but am seriously wondering about effect all this Marcus Vick stuff is having in Blacksburg. Plus, spread is only 1.5; if I'm taking Tech vs North Carolina, want more points than that.

Oklahoma knocked Missouri out of the Big 12 tournament four times in last six years, but Tigers won their last visit to Norman two years ago. Last two regular season meetings in this series went overtime. Sooners are 9-3, but lost Big 12 opener 59-58 as a 5-point favorite at Nebraska. Mizzou beat Oklahoma State in the Big 12 opener, and is now 6-1 in last seven games.

Boston College lost its first two ACC games, both on road, both by a hoop; now they get NC State in their gym. Wolfpack lost at Chapel Hill Saturday, despite jumping out to 11-0 lead; they had won seven in row before that loss. BC was -11 on boards, shot 10-19 from line, 4-16 from arc in loss at Ga Tech; they'll probably shoot it better at home. State has wins at Alabama, Notre Dame/

Home side won six of last eight Vandy-Kentucky games; Vandy hasn't won at Rupp since before I was in high school (30+ yrs), losing last seven visits here by 25,20,11,8,62,12 and 15 pts). The good news for UK, after 73-46 loss at Kansas, is they get 7-foot center Morris back for this. He's no savior, but he is a big body they didn't have before this.

Davidson won its last four games vs Citadel, winning last two at this site by 81-59/68-44 scores. Bulldogs are not good, losing its first two Southern Conference games by 26,18 points. Davidson won its first two league games by 33,18 points, evening record overall at 5-5, as they've played tough non-conference schedule

Home side lost five of last six Fairfield-Rider games, Stags won last three viists to this site by 7,25,3 points; they beat Rider by a hoop in MAAC tourney last March. Fairfield is 1-2 in MAAC- this is their first road game; they've allowed 84.3 ppg, as they are missing departed shotblocker Gai. Rider is 0-3 in league, but this is their first home game in league play.

Tuesday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but.............
              13) I thought the Jets pulled a good deal when they got a 4th-round pick for Herman (41-47) Edwards, but Jet GM Terry Bradway is getting skewered in New York press today. Some of the words used were "incompetent" and "fired". Eesshh..

              12) It was noted in some media outlets Monday that had the Jets charged Kansas City with tampering, they would have, in all likelihood, gotten more than a 4th-round pick.

              11) Kansas City lost a 2nd and 3rd-round pick for tampering with their last coach, Dick Vermeil, while he was still under contract with the Rams. Notice a pattern here?

But Chief GM Carl Peterson is friends with Bradway, so no tampering was alleged.

              10) Oakland got two #1's, two #2's and $8 million from Tampa Bay for Jon Gruden, who hadn't won a Super Bowl yet. Seems to me that Spike Lee should be filing some kind of complaint against the Jets, for embarrassing their former coach by taking so little in return for his services, compared to what others have gotten.

              9) Jets interviewed Jim Haslett Monday, but New York media is dissing that option; they're pushing for Eric Mangini, the Patriots' defensive coordinator, who is 35 years old. They will also interview Joe Vitt and Mike Tice, neither of whom would be welcomed by a New York media that doesn't like retreads.

              8) Meanwhile, Tiki Barber, Mr Media himself, had the gall to call out his coaches after Sunday's 23-0 playoff loss. Some gratitude from a guy whose career was saved by those same coaches who rectified his fumbling problem and made him a star.

              7) Why isn't it ever the players' fault?

              6) Saturday night against the Clippers, Kobe Bryant took 41 of the Lakers' 91 shots. He must be fun to play with.

              5) Jerry Sloan is the best coach in the NBA, and I don't care that he's never won a title. Look at their roster, they swept Pistons this year, and are 7-1 in last eight games. Good coach.

              4) I am watching Pacers-Lakers as I type this; weird thing: out in LA, it is OK to be critical of the home team on TV. Here in the east, where the teams own the TV stations, that doesn't happen anymore, and thats too bad.

              3) Redskins' defensive guru Gregg Williams earns more than eight NFL head coaches.

              2) Marcus Vick is now learning the same hard lesson Maurice Clarett has learned; once you're no longer the BMOC, things that used to slide by, don't anymore. Young Vick needs help in straightening out his life, if he is to have future making cash playing football; no one wants a felon quarterback.

              1) Advice to the National Organization of Women: never try to get a college football coach fired who just went 11-1; it ain't happening, especially in Happy Valley.
