  • Would you hedge this?

I have the NYG as the last team in an 11-1 4 teamer at -2.5
I thought about taking Carolina for about 1/2 of the win total to guarantee 1/2 a payout, then root for a close game. I can get Carolina +3 -120 right now. Would you hedge this, and do you think the line will move in my favor as the late bettors take the favored GMen? thanks celtics72

For me it would depend on the payoff. If its big I would hedge. If its not that great I would gamble. As far as line goes I would think it'll stay the same or go down.Like you said you could hedge and win both.Good luck on what you decide.

I would at least buy back the cost of the parlay. If you are doing really well overall, I would let the rest ride. If you are not, I would buy back at least 1/4 of it.

thats the thing for me, I am not gambling a lot of money, just playing small ML parlays and teasers, but I havent hit one in a few days (damn Detroit OT---and I will never take a Pac 10 fav again (Arizonz and Washington) thats why I am looking at the guaranteed money. Plus I really see this as a good game, with a realistic chance of a double up with a 3 pt win if only the line will move in my favor so I can buy to 3.5 -120. Right now its -140 and thats 2 much to buy off in a hedge.

Absolutely hedge for a quarter. You have a good chance of hitting with the Giants at home.

                        Yes

I would hedge partially, but ONLY because the dam finally broke and there are now 3s out there at some books. You'd be in a particularly advantageous position, since if the Giants win by 3 (which is obviously a very likely scenario, at least compared to any other, with 3 being the most common margin) you'd WIN your original bet, but not LOSE your hedge.

With the line moving onto THE key number, the hedge looks sound.

I saw that at my book (5 dimes) I am waiting for the +3.5 to come off of -135 and I may buy the 1/2 if I can get it for -120 though thats unlikely on such a key number. Thanks guys
