I AM WITH YOU ON THAT CALL. SHOULD HAVE PUNTED. USC HAS SO MUCH TALENTS THAT IT IS HEAD AND SHOULDER ABOVE EVERYONE ELSE BUT PETE CARROLL PROVED WHY HE COULD COACH IN THE NFL...IT WOULDN'T HURT THAT USC PLAYED IN THE PAC-1( NOT PAC-10). THE SECOND BEST TEAM IN THE PAC-1, OREGON LOST TO AN UNRANKED OKLAHOMA EARLIER. THAT TELLS YOU HOW PATHETIC THE PAC-10 WAS/IS WHEN USC BEAT THEM DOWN FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS.

Not a question of hindsight but good strategy..... do you take a chance of giving texas a short field with plenty of time left, or pin them maybe inside their 10 having to go 90 yards in 2 minutes??

Confused by your time thoughts. Was it plenty of time or 2 minutes? If they punt, it's 5 secs difference. and what was better in the game for USC; their defense or their offense?

If you have a short field of around 50 yards then 2 minutes IS plenty of time, but that same 2 minutes looks a lot shorter if you have 90+ yards and you need six!

A. it was more like 63 yards.
B. 9-10 times they punt it goes to the end zone anyway so a
net of a whopping 17 yards.
C. Usc's D didn't stop anything in the 2nd half anyway..

B. That's true..... i don't know about USC's punter except that he probably doesn't get too many chances..... that's why i said NFL teams woulda punted a higher percentage of NFL punters could pin it inside the 20

You're right PP, it was Texas taking over at the 44..but that still doesn't change my mind about the play call..USC was busting runs all night..and look at the 3rd down conversion rate...and rushing for 6 yds a carry, I liked their chances..plus the 5yd facemask didn't help..would have been 4th and 5..so coulda, shoulda, woulda..If a frog had wings, he wouldn't bump his a$$!!!
