My thought is that ND will be pulling out all stops, while Ohio State gets conservative later in the game and just runs the ball, not the bombs they keep hitting.
That, and that fact that Vegas had the lgame line at 4.5, meaning they are way off right now. Vegas normally isn't way off.

That logic can be used over a period of time and a large number of games, but does not necessarily have meaning to one individual game based in the halftime score.
