10-7 is one bold call my friend, and while I completely disagreee, I respect someone that goes out on a limb. You will definitely look like a genius if you are right, GL.

Regarding the Pats sitting their players, I wouldn't count it. For one, and as mentioned, I think they are playig for potential home game. More importantly Billichek doesn't believe in resting people, and has already said he will approach this as any other game. While you can't trust what he says, you can look at what he did last year and believe him. Last year the Pats played the 49ers in week 17 (completely meaningless game) and Brady played into the 4th quarter.

          GO PATS!

Balsy call, but how can anyone call it GOY and not put any write up to supoort. Wayne usually does a nice job with the write up. Don'y just call it because of gut feeling.

            GL anyway.

                "First round home game"

They already have that locked up. It's just for positioning at this point and who they would play 1st round and potentially 2nd round.

OK, lets tear this game apart.

                  1) From the Patriot's site information they have no inkling of not playing the game with all their studs. They could be a #3 seed if they win out and Cinncy loses next week.

                  2) It's the last ABC Monday night football, not of the year but forever.

                  3) These teams played each other 3 weeks ago at the Pat's. The Pat's won 16 - 3. Bollinger had 135 yards and Martin had 29.

                  4) The week prior to that match up was Bollinger's first start and that was at home with a loss to the saints. The Pat's lost at KC.

                  5) Last week the Pat's blanked the Buc's at home and the Jet's lost at Miami 20 -24. Bollinger had 42 attempt for 327 yards.

Both teams have been on an upward trend. The Jets loss of Martin has hurt their running game as Houston isn't running over or around people. They feel comfortable letting Bollinger carry the load. We all know the weakest part of the Pat D is the secondary I'm sure the Jet's will continue that pattern. Because of that I'm not liking the under as mistakes will be made trying or scores will happen because of it. I would think that the Pat's would want to get their ground game going to prepare for the playoff as both Dillion and Faulk have just returned healthy and they need to keep Brady healthy. That would make the over doubtful.

Keep in mind if homefield is worth 3 points that would mean the last game would be 13 - 6 game.

I don't have the clear results to argue with Linemover. So all I can say is Best of luck. I'll take the Jet's in the first half as a small play and enjoy the outcome of the game.

I was really surprised how well they played at Miami the previous week. so linemover they may cover the spread which is now at 8 on my book.

Good Luck and I hope U look like a 200 IQ here.

this game has already been played and New England has blown them out right---I mean go ask 10 friends if ne wins by more than 7 and see what they say---all 10 will you say yes-bottom line is cold weather and nothing to play for, for the pats-Jets win in a close low scoring game-If I did not love the Jets so much I would play the total as my biggest play of the year. Do what you want and say what you want? I cannot win everygame but I will hit better than 75% of these games. Good luck everyone

Here is a more in depth write up.

The question here is will they cover?

                          By Tony Moss, NFL Editor

(Sports Network) - Those not convinced that the New England Patriots are back might want to tune in for Monday's primetime tilt, when Bill Belichick's team plays the New York Jets in the final weeknight matchup of the 2005 season.

New England has been dominating of late, winning its last three games by a composite score of 79-10. That run started with a 16-3 takedown of the Jets back in Week 13, marking the fifth consecutive time the Patriots had downed their longtime AFC East foe. The Patriots were 28-0 home winners over Tampa Bay last Sunday, clinching the AFC East title in the process.

The Jets will be playing for little more than pride on Monday night, but will be trying to build upon a stretch that has seen them show some signs of life on the offensive side of the football. One week after defeating the Raiders, 26-10, Herman Edwards' club was a 24-20 loser in Miami last Sunday. The two- game stretch marked the first time this season that the Jets had scored 20 or more points in back-to-back contests.

Monday's game will mark the final ABC telecast of Monday Night Football, as the program, which first aired in 1970, will be moved to ESPN beginning with next season.

                          SERIES HISTORY

The Jets hold a 47-42-1 edge in the all-time series with their long-time AFC East rival, though they have dropped seven of the last eight overall. New England was a 16-3 home winner over the Jets in Week 13, and also swept home- and-homes in the 2003 and 2004 seasons. The Jets' most recent win over the Patriots of any kind was a 30-17 triumph in Foxborough during 2002, and they have lost four straight home games against the Pats since last downing New England at the Meadowlands in 2000.

The teams have also met once in the postseason, a 26-14 Patriots win in a 1985 AFC First-Round Playoff.

Edwards is 2-7 all-time against New England during his career. The Patriots' Belichick has a career mark of 8-5 against the Jets, including 7-4 while with New England. Belichick is 7-2 head-to-head against Edwards.

                          PATRIOTS OFFENSE VS. JETS DEFENSE

The New England offense will once again be controlled by quarterback Tom Brady (3,888 passing yards, 23 TD, 12 INT), who entered Week 16 ranked atop the NFL list in passing yards. Brady was on point in the Tampa Bay win last week, completing 20-of-31 passes for 258 yards with three touchdowns. Nine different Patriots caught passes in the game, including wideout David Givens (56 receptions, 2 TD), who led the way with six catches for 137 yards and a touchdown. No. 1 receiver Deion Branch (72 receptions, 4 TD) was quieter, recording just a couple of catches for 27 yards. Christian Fauria (7 receptions, 2 TD) was the team's most active tight end, recording a pair of grabs for 20 yards. Apart from Givens' TD catch, the Patriots' receiving scores were made by running back Corey Dillon and tackle-eligible Tom Ashworth. Brady was sacked just once by the Buccaneers, and has now been dropped a total of 23 times on the year. The Pats are second in the league in passing offense (267.6 yards per game), behind only Arizona.

The Jets' strength this season has resided with a defense that ranks third in the NFL against the pass (172.4 yards per game). The team's only Pro Bowler came from the secondary, with cornerback Ty Law (58 tackles, 6 INT) earning the distinction in his first year as a Jet. Law did not have a pick in last week's loss to the Dolphins, but fellow corner David Barrett (35 tackles, 5 INT) crept closer to him on the INT chart by notching one off of Gus Frerotte. Elsewhere in the secondary, free safety Erik Coleman (100 tackles, 2 INT) recorded a game-high eight tackles in Miami. The Jets' pass rush managed just one sack versus the Dolphins, that going to backup end Lance Legree (24 tackles, 2.5 sacks). The team leader in sacks is still end John Abraham (50 tackles, 8.5 sacks), who did not break through against the Dolphins but had three sacks in his previous two games combined.

Establishing the run on Monday night figures to be a priority for a New England team that ranks just 24th in NFL rushing offense (93.3 yards per game) and was limited to 83 yards on the ground last week. Dillon (656 rushing yards, 22 receptions, 11 TD) has seen extensive carries since returning from a calf injury a few weeks back, but last Saturday could manage just 48 yards on 19 carries. Dillon was able to score a pair of touchdowns, however, including his first of the year through the air. Kevin Faulk (95 rushing yards, 25 receptions), who spent most of the first half on the inactive list due to injury, rushed six times for 18 yards and logged a couple of catches against Tampa Bay. Fullback Patrick Pass (205 rushing yards, 3 TD, 21 receptions) was limited to one reception versus the Bucs.

The Jets rank just 28th in the NFL against the run (133.9 yards per game), and could not keep Miami running backs Ricky Williams and Ronnie Brown in check last week. The duo combined for 115 yards in a winning effort, including 70 yards and a touchdown on just 14 touches for Williams. Middle linebacker and NFL tackles leader Jonathan Vilma (145 tackles, 1 INT) had six tackles in the win, and fellow LBs Victor Hobson (71 tackles, 1 sack) and Barry Gardner (16 tackles) were quiet in combining for six stops. The club's best run-stuffer at the line of scrimmage this season has been tackle Dewayne Robertson (43 tackles, 3.5 sacks), but the former first-round draft pick missed last week's game with a thigh injury and is listed as questionable for Monday. Fellow DT James Reed (56 tackles, 1 INT) paced the team's interior linemen with four tackles in Miami.

                          JETS OFFENSE VS. PATRIOTS DEFENSE

Fresh off his finest game as a pro to date is Jets quarterback Brooks Bollinger (1305 passing yards, 6 TD, 5 INT), who completed 28-of-42 passes for 327 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the loss to Miami. With his 106.0 passer rating in the defeat, Bollinger moved his 2005 rating to 72.7. The top target for the signal-caller in the setback was tight end Doug Jolley (28 receptions, 1 TD), who had nine catches for 102 yards and his first Jets touchdown. No. 1 receiver Laveranues Coles (64 receptions, 3 TD) also made an impact, hauling in four grabs for 53 yards and his third score of the year. No. 3 wideout Jerricho Cotchery (16 receptions) also had five catches in the contest, but starter Justin McCareins (37 receptions, 2 TD) was limited to a pair of receptions in the defeat. Bollinger made strides in spite of the work of an offensive line that allowed six sacks versus the Dolphins, bringing its season total of sacks surrendered to a bloated 45. The Jets are 27th in the league in passing offense (170.4 yards per game) as Week 16 begins.

Bollinger will be operating against a New England defense that ranks just 30th in the league against the pass (238.7 yards per game), but held Buccaneers QB Chris Simms to 155 yards through the air last Saturday. A huge element of Simms' weak day was pressure, as the Patriots broke through for seven sacks against the former University of Texas star. Leading the charge were inside linebacker Tedy Bruschi (60 tackles, 2 sacks) and outside linebacker Willie McGinest (54 tackles, 5.5 sacks), who had two sacks each in the win. OLB Roosevelt Colvin (58 tackles, 6.5 sacks) also had a sack in the contest, boosting his team-leading total in that category. The makeshift Patriots secondary did not record any interceptions of Simms, but safety Artrell Hawkins (15 tackles, 1 sack) and cornerback Asante Samuel (54 tackles, 2 INT) had seven tackles each in the triumph.

Week number two without future Hall of Fame running back Curtis Martin saw the Jets manage to do some damage on the ground. Rookie Cedric Houston (233 rushing yards, 1 TD) carried 15 times for 84 yards in the loss to Miami, also catching four balls for 40 yards out of the backfield. Houston did lose a fumble in the game, however, one of the three Jets turnovers in the loss. The rookie was spelled by B.J. Askew (59 rushing yards), who was limited to five yards on four carries in the game. Fullback Jerald Sowell (26 receptions 2 TD) logged a couple of catches against the Fins. Despite last week's effort, the Jets continue to rank just 31st in the league in rushing offense (85.6 yards per game), ahead of only the Cardinals.

New England's run defense has progressed in leaps and bounds since the return of Bruschi at midseason. Bruschi had a game-high 11 tackles and a forced fumble in the win over the Buccaneers, helping limit Tampa Bay's rushing attack to a scant 30 yards on the day. The effort helped move New England all the way up to No. 6 in the NFL in rushing defense (99.4 yards per game). Also in on the act was inside linebacker Mike Vrabel (97 tackles, 3.5 sacks, 2 INT), who had eight tackles, a sack, and a forced fumble in the victory. The Patriots' three-man line of nose tackle Vince Wilfork (51 tackles, 0.5 sacks) and ends Richard Seymour (39 tackles, 3 sacks) and Ty Warren (64 tackles, 1 sack) has played well of late also, and all three members of the group recorded four tackles last Saturday.

                          OVERALL ANALYSIS

The Patriots aren't going to have much that is tangible to play for on Monday night, but that doesn't mean New England won't come to play. The Pats are desperate to maintain the suffocating form they have displayed of late, and the Jets offense probably doesn't stand much of a chance against the re- energized New England defense. Look for the Pats to jump on top early and keep New York at arm's length throughout.

Sports Network Predicted Outcome: Patriots 20, Jets 10

I can understand a little how you handicapped the game as a Jets cover but saying you'll hit better than 75% of these games is a huge reach. Especially after your bowl total of the year Navy game under 61 ( finished at 81 ) and your 2nd half Cbb game of the year Alabama - 2 ( finished at 35 - 36 ) were both losers.

I play the same amount on a game no matter how confident I feel about the outcome. I'm going to make my 20 bucks either way. But there seem to be too many gom/goy for others to concider the weight of the wager to be made.

                              Best of luck,
