Some Sox fans willspin this any way they want-that management did the right thing, the money can't be spent for other players, blah, blah, blah.
The fact of the matter is that without Pedro, Damon and Ramirez, the Sox are just ANOTHER team, better than some and worse than some others but nothing special when everything is considered and most importantly not a real contender.

The Yankees always over pay for their players but whaat's the difference they have added an all star caliber center fielder. Its really this simple who would you rather have Bubba Crosby or ****** Damon. Yankees immensely upgraded themselves. The Red Sox I have no clue what they are doing,

Savage, its a bit hypocritical. You won't go to the games but you'll watch on TV. I believe the main source of revenue for team is the TV contracts.

without question a BIGGER loss for the Sox than a gain for the Yankees. Whoever mentioned Furcal getting 12 million per and JD Drew getting 11 million a year, made a great point!

My question is if Theo was still the GM does ****** get away???

And I thought JDamon had said numerous times in the past years he would NEVER play for the Yankees???

Frank-I don't think its hypocritical at all. I receive NESN(the Sox station) as part of my cable package and item is incuded whether I want it or not.
And yes, even if it did cost extra, it would be a hell of a lot cheaper to get it(the station) than to go down to Fenway pay a couple of hundred dollars for decent seats, pay $5 or more for a hot dog(don't know what they cost these days) and other outrageous concession prices and to pay equally absurd parking prices.
All of the above is the result of greedy players, agents and owners;I will not be a party to such out of control madness.

the yankees are a bunch of overpaying bitches---they could have signed lofton for 1-2 years at a fraction of the cost, the man is still serviceable, but no they go for the name and to tick off all those boston die-hards

DaRealDeal-And don't think that even though Steinbrenner offered his congrats to Sox when they humiliated Yanks and HIM, coming back from 0-3 to defeat them and then take the WS, that in reality from that day on his REAL thinking was to somehow get back at them;in effect, he has accomplished that now to an extent. If her should ever land Manny, then he would really be in his glory.
