The Cubs have WAY too much money not to compete EVERY year with the top payrolls in the game. They have some of the BEST fans in baseball and it's time ownership opens up the wallet and rewards them for that!!!Comment

The bottom line about the cubs is that it is not that they do not compete. or make moves-- they do-- but they have not been able to land the "big" free agent in the last 5 years. It is real hard to name a top free agent who has signed with the cubs. Ramirez, Lee, Prior, Zambrano and all the others have come from organization or trades. Sure we sign the barrets and jones's but not the tejadas or pedro's. This does not even mention all the pattersons and pitchers who have been in the farm system and are supposed to be the next coming of christ. The good thing however is that the Tribune Parent company is having major financial trouble-- big lawsuits and other issues which could result in a major sale-- including the cubs to 3 local businesses men. In fact, this is something that could happen by the end of the year. If these billionaires buy the cubs-- LOOK THE FUCK OUT--Comment
