  • OK Bears fans.. The moment you have been waiting for..

So next game you lose I dont want to hear the excuse of If we had Grossman we would have won...

Full circle: Bears QB Grossman will start SundayAssociated Press

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Rex Grossman's rescue effort elevated him back to starting quarterback for the Chicago Bears.

Grossman, who replaced struggling rookie Kyle Orton in the second half Sunday night and led the Bears to a 16-3 win over the Atlanta Falcons, will start at Green Bay when Chicago can clinch the NFC North.

"He was our starter before he went down and we have a lot of faith in him. We think he gives us our best chance to win," Bears coach Lovie Smith said Monday in announcing the switch.

Grossman tore a ligament in his knee in the third game last season and didn't return. This year, he broke his ankle in a preseason game Aug. 12. He missed 26 games over the last two seasons, but the long hours of rehab have finally brought him back to a starter's role.

Grossman, a first-round pick in 2003, will be making just his seventh NFL start Sunday. He completed 9 of 16 passes for 93 yards in the second half against the Falcons, showing no problems with his legs and displaying a strong arm.

"It was fun to feel healthy and get the accuracy back. It came together very quickly," Grossman said.

The Bears are 10-4 and had an eight-game winning streak with Orton as quarterback before a loss to Pittsburgh on Dec. 11.

I think Grossman takes Bears to next level as the best team in the NFC. Just my opinion but his confidence alone was very noticable in a short time last night. Eagle

I really didn't think the Bears were going to finish the season without looking at Rex. It would have been a lot different if Orton was putting up the numbers but he wasn't. 1. he holds on to the ball too long. 2. He doesn't go through his progressions. The first WR he sees he want's to throw the ball to him open or not. IMO This move had to be made.

Now on to even better things. If Indy beats Seattle this weekend and the Bears win their last two, We have home field advantage through out the playoffs. If that happens I can really see us going to the Super Bowl. I think the Bears could beat Seattle or the NYG in Chicago if it comes down to it.

I was hoping that was the case Tmac...this is what needed to be done for any chance to make noise in the playoffs, and Lovie knew it. It makes us finally legit.

It would be great for Indy to beat Seattle, but Indy has nothing to play for.....I dont' see it happening, but I'll be rooting like hell for them.

Then Seattle has to go to green bay for possibliy Favre's last game?!?!?!!?!?!?!? Could Green Bay do us a favor and beat Seattle?

Of course, we'd have to take care of business ourselves, but i like our chances.

If it comes down to Seattle that we play for the conf. Champ. I'm not worried at all. Their WR's are average at best imo. They have a great runner and a OK QB. I think the Bears take down Seattle VERY easy if we play them. My worry is if we have to play the Giants. Don't think for one second that the NFL wouldn't like to see a Manning Manning matchup in the Super Bowl. I'm already calling the bad calls LOL!

Sorry guys, but Chicago is nowhere near the best team in the NFC. Tampa, Carolina, Atlanta (when healthy), Seattle, NY Giants are all better. Maybe Dallas. Can they become the best team? Of course with some more additions at WR and improved running game. Thomas Jones isn't going to get you consistent yards. The D looks great just like those traditional Buccaneer D's Lovie you to help mold.
