                The index is kind of like a power rating. It has been around for a long time. The differential of ratings determines a point spread.

                The first team listed is the top-rated team with the point difference (rounded) in parenthesis. The * indicates the home team.

                It can be a useful tool to use along with your own handicapping methods, and comparing to actual point spreads.
