I believe these are the D1 CFB teams whose mascots do not end in "S".

                    1. Illinois Fighting Illini
                    2. Notre Dame Fighting Irish
                    3. Alabama Crimson Tide
                    4. Tulane Green Wave
                    5. Nevada Wolf Pack
                    6. North Carolina State Wolf Pack
                    7. Navy Midshipmen
                    8. Stanford Cardinal
                    9. Marshall Thundering Herd
                    10. Tulsa Golden Hurricane
                    11. North Texas Mean Green
                    12. Syracuse Orangmen

I believe for CBB u need to add (maybe others)

                    1. Bucknell Bison
                    2. Hofstra Pride
                    3. St.Francis Red Flash
                    4. UMass Minutemen
                    5. St. Johns Red Storm
                    6. Harvard Crimson

This was a great trivia question, my family owns a bar, and i remember a couple years back when this question was brought up.

How bout 4 D1 schools named after a color?

North Texas is no longer officially the Mean Green. They are the Eagles.
                      Records:

                      NCAA Hoops (38-34-2, +4.59*)
                      NFL Sides (34-25, +12.15*)
                      NFL Totals (18-14-1, +8.23*)
                      NCAA Foots Plays (65-48-4, +21.47*)

North Texas is one of the two we did not have before, but if you go to CBSsportsline.com they stiil list them as the Mean Green. also we did'nt have Nevada the first time we tried this question.

S at the end of their nickname. But maybe you have something there for a new quiz.

I don't know when they changed it, but I was talking to someone who goes to school at Troy, and he told me that they went by the Eagles now. I just found this:

                              http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/team?statsId=182

It's kind of weird, because at the top it says North Texas Eagles, but halfway down it says North Texas Mean Green roster.
                              Records:
