  • Hockey Update on Goaltenders

Vitaly Kolesnik, Colorado Avalanche - Kolesnik is the probable starter for Monday's game against the Senators, reports the Rocky Mountain News. It will be his fourth straight start as David Aebischer and Peter Budaj both await their turn to play net once again. With Kolesnik on a roll, neither goalie has played in over a week and after today's game the Avs don't play against until Saturday.

Dominik Hasek, Ottawa Senators - Hasek is the probable starter for Monday's game against the Avalanche, reports the Ottawa Sun.

Marc-Andre Fleury, Pittsburgh Penguins - Fleury is the probable starter for Monday's game against the Red Wings, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Chris Osgood, Detroit Red Wings - Osgood is the probable starter for Monday's game against the Penguins, reports the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

Ed Belfour, Toronto Maple Leafs - Belfour is the probable starter for Monday's game against the Mighty Ducks.

Jean-Sebastien Giguere, Anaheim Mighty Ducks - Giguere is the probable starter for Monday's game against the Maple Leafs.

Manny Legace, Detroit Red Wings - Legace said he hopes to begin face live shots sometime later this week but is unsure of exactly when he will be able to return to the lineup, reports the Detroit News. He made it a point to say that he would only be back when he's 100% and admitted that when he returned from a similar injury earlier in the year, he lied to the training staff by saying he was ready when he was actually not totally healed.

Patrick Lalime, St. Louis Blues - It appears as if Lalime's time with the Blues has run out, reports the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The team is expected to move the struggling goaltender today either via a trade or waivers as they have not been happy with his play. Trading him might not be possible due to his salary and performance so it's likely that he will be put on waivers and then just be banished to the bench until another team claims him. Curtis Sanford will take over starting duties effective immediately and is a good pickup for those who are desperate for a goalie, while Lalime will have almost zero fantasy value unless he is moved or Sanford goes down an injury.
"The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice.
