          Great Lakes

Guys, all I have today from Great Lakes so far is a baseball play:

          4* -- Pittsburgh (Torres)

As always, I'll post more as I hear anything.

Maybe you've not been following this forum on a daily basis, but I get what I get, and I post what I have that people have asked for.

Sorry if a 4* (out of 5) baseball play is not good enough.

                    nut- I am always angry....

Texas Sportswire play on LA Dodgers w/write up

ATLANTA (25-12) at LOS ANGELES (20-18)

                    ATL S REYNOLDS-R (2-1, 5.60 ERA) vs LOS H NOMO -R (4-4, 3.16 ERA)

The Braves open up a three game series with the Dodgers in Los Angeles. In the Braves game on Sunday, Javy Lopez belted a three-run homer and Marcus Giles added an RBI triple to lead Atlanta past San Francisco, 7-3 as +110 home underdogs. The game was delayed for almost two hours in the bottom of the fifth inning because of heavy rain in the Atlanta area. Lopez and Giles each smacked three hits for the Braves, who have won six of their last seven and grabbed two of three in this series. Mike Hampton (2-1) picked up the victory in five innings. He allowed three runs -- two earned -- on six hits, while striking out four and walking three. Lopez started the rally with a leadoff double to center field, then advanced to third on Hampton's bunt. Rafael Furcal followed with a double to the corner in right, scoring Lopez and pulling Atlanta even at 3-3. Giles stepped to the plate next and drew a one-out walk, but it was Gary Sheffield's at-bat which caused the most trouble for Schmidt. His third pitch to Sheffield got past catcher Yorvit Torrealba and allowed Furcal to score from third, as the Braves moved in front with a 4-3 advantage. Lopez's one-out three-run homer in the eighth capped the scoring and gave the Braves their final margin of victory. Giles committed an error in the first inning that allowed Perez to score and give the Giants a 1-0 lead, but he made up for it with an RBI triple in the bottom of the frame, scoring Furcal for a 1-1 tie. Sheffield followed with a sacrifice fly to center field that plated Giles and gave the Braves a 2-1 edge. The advantage would be short-lived, however, as San Francisco posted a pair of runs in the second off Hampton to grab a 3-2 lead. Edgardo Alfonzo led off the frame with a first-pitch double to left-center field. Torrealba followed with an RBI base hit and advanced to second when Ruben Rivera walked. Both runners then moved up a base on Schmidt's bunt, but Torrealba was forced out at home one batter later when Jason Ellison grounded into a fielder's choice. Perez followed with a single, however, to score Rivera and give the Giants their one-run advantage. In the Dodgers' game on Sunday, Shawn Green homered to lead Los Angeles over Montreal, 4-3 as -115 road favorites. Alex Cora and Cesar Izturis each scored a run on two hits apiece for the Dodgers, who have won four of their last five games. Odalis Perez (2-2) earned his first road win of the season in his sixth start away from home. The lefthander allowed three runs on five hits in 6 1/3 innings. Perez also walked one and struck out seven. The Dodgers trailed 1-0, but posted a two-run sixth and they led the rest of the way. With two outs and no runners on base, Green belted his fifth home run of the season to tie the game. Mike Kinkade then drew a walk, stole second and scored the go-ahead run on a base hit to right by Daryle Ward. Livan Hernandez (3-2) suffered the defeat after surrendering four runs, three of which were earned, in 6 1/3 frames. The 28-year-old righty also yielded six hits and three walks, while striking out five. In the top of the seventh the Dodgers increased their margin to 4-1. Cora and Izturis led off with back-to-back singles and after each moved up a base on a Perez bunt, they both came around on a throwing error by Jose Vidro. Dave Roberts hit the ball to Vidro, who threw the ball away in an attempt to get a fielder's choice. In the bottom of the frame, the Expos trimmed the deficit to 4-3 with two runs of their own. Brad Wilkerson was hit by a pitch with one out, stole second and crossed the plate courtesy of a Barrett two-base hit. Barrett scored one batter later when Ron Calloway smacked a single up the middle. Eric Gagne earned his 12th save of the year after tossing 1 1/3 innings of perfect baseball. Tonight's pitching matchup features Shane Reynolds of Atlanta against Hideo Nomo of the Dodgers. Reynolds has gotten good results in three of the five starts he has made since signing with the Braves on April 10. The Braves have won four of the five games which he has pitched. The 35-year-old right-hander is 7-8 with a 3.43 ERA in 20 career appearances against the Dodgers. Nomo will be the first Dodger pitcher to make his ninth start of the year when he faces the Braves on Monday evening in Atlanta. Nomo has been a real workhorse for LA, taking his team to the eighth inning in all but one of his starts. He is second in the NL in innings pitched with 57, behind only St. Louis' Matt Morris. Nomo has been involved in the decision for all of his games, including victories in three of the last four. All Dodgers here..........................................

                      Peace in the neighborhood

I didn't intend to sound like I'm getting up in your grill, I'm just telling you that if you have been reading my posts in the past couple of weeks I've been putting up more than what you call "comp" plays.

People ask for Great Lakes, JB, Big Al or whoever and if can get it I post.

                      Dr. Bob -- 2* Nets

                      3G -- 5* Nets

                      How's that?

mike----"hows that?" why so confrontational??? I am not questioning your abilty to find plays, I was simply asking if you had GLS full card tonight.

in case you wanted dr bobs nets write up here it is...

**New Jersey (-1 or better) 92 BOSTON 84

Teams down 0 games to 3 have a tendency to give up, and taking such teams when favored has been a mistake in the past. In fact, game 4 teams that are favored after losing the first 3 games of a playoff series are 0-8 ATS and just 1-7 STRAIGHT UP. Also, playoff favorites that have lost 3 straight games are only 10-22 ATS. So, taking Boston on the basis of them needing to win is not a good idea. New Jersey is starting to play like they did early in the season, which is at a high level, and their 5 straight victories is an indication of success today. In fact, road teams on a win streak of 5 games are more are historically very good in the playoffs and the Nets qualify in a 17-1 ATS situation based on their win streak. My ratings do favor Boston by 1 point in this game, so the line is fair. However, I will take New Jersey to end this series based on the past history of teams up 3 games to none and the positive situation based on their current 5 game win steak. I will also favor the Under again, as my math model predicts just 177 points in this game (the last game here in Boston totaled just 170 points). The trend of games going Over the total in this year’s post-season is being adjusted for in the line and games are now starting to go Under. **New Jersey (-1 or better) 92 BOSTON 84

                          Breakout

Breakout -- please put down your dukes already, I'm not looking for a fight.

You asked me why I only put up comp plays, so I put up a couple of non-comp plays to show you that while I have access to many picks, most of them aren't worth the time or effort to post here, and nobody wants them anyway.

This is as non-confrontational as I can be.

Everybody now: "All we are sayyyyyyyyyyyyyyying is give peace a chance".

I am now returning to the lotus position and chanting my mantra.

                              Breakout

Okay Breakout, I must have misunderstood what you were saying in your original post.

What I was saying is that I didn't consider a 4* play a comp, nor do I know what other plays Great Lakes may have had for today.

Whatever I am given, whether it be 1 or 10 plays, that's what I'll post.
