It is a total fluke of tiebreakers that Akron is playing for the MAC championship. Akron would be a dog to five other MAC teams! (Mia-OH, Toledo, Bowling, Green, W Mich, C Mich). Northern Illinois has been very strong down the stretch with a crushing of a good W Mich team and wins on the road at Toledo and C Mich. Nobody wins at Toledo but No Ill did. Akron, on the other hand, had a soft schedule as they were able to avoid a couple of league powers. They beat Bowling Green when its great QB was out but were otherwise thrashed by stronger teams. Yes, they did beat No Ill early in the season but that was an OT game at Akron. Huge coaching mismatch tonight with No Ill's respected Joe Novak against JD Brookheart (whoever he is). No Ill rolls tonight.
