NFL Week 12 Monday night analysis
Steelers (7-3) @ Colts (10-0)-Steelers won last nine games vs Colts, but eight of them were in Steel City. Pitt needs Big Ben back at QB to compete here; in four games he hasn't started, Steelers are 2-2, and converted just 11 for 48 (23%) on third down, compared to 35% when Ben starts. Indy running on all cylinders, with Colts converting 50 of last 80 (62.5%) third down plays. Not only is Indy 10-0, they covered six of last seven games; they're just 1-3 as home favorite, though. Steelers are 2-0 as dog this year, beat Chargers, Bengals in dog role. Last five Colt games all went over the total.

    Fact of the Day
Tom Brady is the only QB who has won a Super Bowl in last eight seasons who is still with the team he played for in winning the Super Bowl; Trent Dilfer, Brad Johnson and Kurt Warner all were released by teams they won title for. John Elway, of course, retired after winning two titles.

Monday's List of 13: as coaches update their resumes........
            13) Ravens once traded a 2nd round pick to move up to 19th slot in draft to draft Kyle Boller. Whoops.

            12) Bad week to be Daniel Snyder, as he loses two games in row to coaches he fired, both gut-wrenching setbacks as the Redskins fall out of contention. I wonder if Joe Vitt has ever worked for Redskins? Rams host Washington next week.

            11) The Ryan Fitzpatrick era got off to glorious start Sunday in Houston, as 7th-round pick, who led Harvard to 11-0 mark last year, threw for 310 yards in leading Rams back from 24-3 deficit to a 33-27 OT win, probably the greatest comeback in NFL history by QB playing in his first game.

            10) Lawrence Tynes of Chiefs was 4-4 on FG's, just in second quarter of Chiefs' 26-16 win, making him the seventh kicker in league history to kick four field goals in same quarter.

            9) Edmonton won the Grey Cup in OT, nipping Montreal by a 38-35 score, as Canada's football season has exciting ending

            8) Eight different players have either kicked or punted for the Eagles this season.

            7) Bears have two TD's in last two weeks, on drives of 1 and 10 yards. What a defense they have; they're a scoring threat, constantly setting up short fields for a feeble offense.

            6) Arizona had five offensive coordinators in last six years.

            5) Packers are 2-9, and still have outscored their opponents.

            4) Giants had 16 penalties, their most since 1949; 11 of the 16 were flase start penalties, an amazing number, especially in an outdoor stadium.

            3) In college ball, Florida International's defense scored four TD's Saturday, all on interception returns. FIU's defense had a 28-6 scoring edge all by itself.

            2) Memphis got bowl eligible with 26-3 win over Marshall, but Tigers' passing stats were ugly: 1 for 8, for -3 yards.

            1) Instead of coin flip to start overtime in NFL, I suggest the home team kick off to visitors. Sure would save some time.
