  • Michael Irvin news that isn't too surprising

    November 27, 2005
PLANO, Texas (AP) -- Former Dallas Cowboys receiver Michael Irvin was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia after police searched his vehicle during a traffic stop, Plano police said Sunday.

Irvin, a semifinalist for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, was arrested on an outstanding warrant for speeding in Irving after being pulled over Friday afternoon for speeding in Plano, the Plano Police Department said. Police spokesman Mike Johnson said he didn't know what kind of paraphernalia was found.

Irvin paid a fine on the speeding ticket and posted bond on the drug paraphernalia possession charge. He was released about an hour after he was pulled over.

If I was as rich as him and only worked a few hours a week, I'd burn it down to!

man, i was just thinking about that today while watching espn. he was on there talking about t.o. and he just looked and talked like he was somewhere else. i wonder if espn will put up with him much longer. i really don't think he brings a lot of insight to the program...

I think Sterling Sharpe is MUCH better anyway - I cannot believe they ever made the change. Irvin obviously hasn't changed from his Cowboy days - still partying hearty!

Irvin told the AP that the pipe wasn't his...it was a friend of his who he helping recovering from a drug problem.

He was on his way to throw it out.

          His words....

Over/under on days he's still employed?

No kidding, I mean, can't one of these guys be creative once in a while? Have some foresight, and realize that if you are caught with it somehow that you will have an original excuse that you just may be able to sell to some people. Not the prototypical "it was someone else's" ... and then he goes on about how he has to help them fight their demons and all that, give me a fvckin break.

Oh and I totally agree with the sterling sharpe comment, that guy was much better than Irvin

                love that....it wasn't his...NOOOOOOOOOOOOO...never.

                He was "helping" a friend.

                What the fuck ever.

Maybe him and TO can have a group hug.

ESPN should get rid of him. He's a bad example for athletes and kids.

I'm sure this will help his Hall of Fame chances too.

                      Nate,

I've found drugs in people's pants pockets already. On a few occasions, they have told me it wasn't even their pants.

They fired Trev Alberts for much lesser things...

Irvin will be gone if it keeps going the way it does.

Race has ZERO to do with it.

Did you guys read the part, that he has to help his friends fight their demons because his friends are around his boys (kids) all the time??

Who the hell knowingly lets guys doing drugs (I don't know if it was a crack pipe or weed) around their children??

I'm all for helping people, but to let these people around your children.....

This is of course if you are buying his story, that it isn't his? Either way, his logic is screwed up!
