I won't make any series bet in the East but i know you like Ottawa but i think the Devils win in 6 and the other series i really wonder how many lives Minn. has and i'm much more impressed at what Anaheim has done so i will go with the Ducks in that one but it is a funny series...Minny vs. Mickey :tongue:

I think it would be terrible for the game watching two trap defensive teams play...the trap is the most effective defensive system ever implemented in hockey, but it also hurts hockey in many many many ways....once again, the trap proves that you can win in this league without great talent and skating as the Wild have proven...Mario Lemieux and other offensive hockey stars have out spoken versus Jaque Lamaire's style and the damage it has done to hockey...I agree with the stars and think with bad ratings already; that a Devil-Wild matchup would be a nightmare for viewers...what ever happened to the great days when the skaters and "true" hockey players dominated the ice instead of a bunch of goons clutching and grabbing...as long as Gary Bettman is the head man of the NHL- the NHL IS and WILL be on a respirator

I defy you to name any "Goons" on the Devils or Wild who have been effective in the post-season because of the trap.

Does the trap slow the game down and make it less asthetically pleasing? Probably.
Is it effective? HELL YES.
Should whether or not TV Ratings sink or swim determine who plays for The Cup? I believe not.
Does defense (or defence for those of a Canadian persuasion) win championships? IT SURE DOES.
What kind of TV Ratings do you think a matchup between Ottawa vs. either Anaheim (but especially) Minnesota draw?

Anaheim plays some stingy defense themselves so no matter what the matchup in the finals its probably going to be more of a grind as opposed to watching the Oilers of the 80's and early 90's.

No matter what happens the rest of the way, the league itself is in trouble. I predict a lock out as soon as the CBA expires because the player contracts are proportionally MUCH too large for the paltry amount the league makes on their TV contract... a contract which probably isn't going to get any bigger once the current one expires.

Sorry for the long winded diatribe.
