Kansas is very young, losing four starters from 23-7 team of last year; they lost 61-49 to Arizona, 65-64 to Arkansas, so they are in need of win, and are facing host Chaminade that lost by 22 to Michigan State, 29 to Maryland, after they led at half.

Arkansas got down early vs UConn, battled back to within three points in second half, but lost to Huskies; they beat Kansas by point. Razorbacks have four starters back, but they don't always play as hard as they might. Maryland trailed Chaminade at half yesterday, won by 29. Terps will play harder than Hogs.

Arizona held young Kansas squad to 49 points Monday, then fell apart down stretch vs Huskies. Wildcats have three starters back from 30-7 squad. . 'zona has

Gonzaga put away Maryland in best game of day Monday, then they won 109-106 epic Tuesday, not sure what they'll have left in tank. Zags have four starters back from 26-5 club Blue Ribbon has Gonzaga 6th, UConn 1st. Huskies almost blew big lead in win over Hogs Monday, but they were strong down stretch last night. UConn already 3-0; they should be fresher team after Zags played triple OT classic.

Wednesday's List of 13: Random rainy day thoughts
                13) There won't be better college basketball game this season than Gonzaga-Michigan State Tuesday night, a triple OT win for the Bulldogs, 109-106. Amazing game. Now both teams go play again tomorrow, before heading back to mainland.

                12) Michigan State's Paul Davis was NFL Punt, Pass & Kick champion when he was 10 years old.

                11) Not only did Zags win in three OT's, they hit their last 27 foul shots. Combined, the two teams made 39 in row, at one point, before Spartans missed one.

                10) Bucknell 74, Syracuse 69. Patriot League teams give kids scholarships now, so they can compete at this higher level. Syrcause isn't that good if McNamara shoots poorly.

                9) Winning share for winning World Series for each member of the White Sox, a cool $324,532. Big money for the subs, coaches, chump change for the higher paid players.

                8) Some media nitwits are saying Brett Favre should sit down for good of team. I say the Packers should get better players around him. If you had a decent OL and receivers who could catch, wouldn't you love to still have Favre at QB?

                7) Oprah Winfrey will make a visit to David Letterman's show for first time in 12 years, and first time since he has been on CBS, when she visits Dave December 1.

                6) NBA is considering uniform physicals for all their players in light of some of these heart problems popping up around the league. Echocardiograms are finding these problems; it is a good idea if they take this proactive step.

                5) Darryl Dawkins is coaching the Pennsylvania ValleyDawgs in the USBL. Micheal Ray Richardson is coaching here in the CBA, for the Albany Patroons. If I owned a team, don't think I'd be hiring them to coach my team, but that's just me.

                4) Carlos Boozer was quick to take Utah's money, stiffing the Cavaliers, who were good to him; now, he already wants out of Utah, and has bought an $8.6 million house in LA, that is 5,600 square feet, with ten bedrooms, 13 bathrooms. At least the money didn't go to his head.

                3) BYU is playing in the Las Vegas Bowl? Who decided this was a good idea? Can the casinos be happy that a bunch of Mormons are coming to town? Are the Mormons happy that they'll have so much temptation to resist? Stay tuned.......

                2) Eagles cut a punter and their kickoff guy on the same day, which saves those two the trouble of being around for the media circus that will be T.O. Verdict Day on Wednesday.

                1) ESPN announcers were pumping up Arkansas' star guard Ronnie Brewer a lot, until one of them uttered the key phrase: "The only knock on him is that he doesn't always play hard." If you're an NBA GM and you hear that phrase, you run very fast in the other direction, no matter how talented he is. You can't teach someone to play hard all the time.
