Money Management Question?

I was wondering what the boards' thoughts were on money management in regards to units bet? I see most posters on here rate their plays 1-10 units, or something similiar. Does everyone agree this is a better method then 1 unit per game? Some posters, after adding up units, *'s, whatever, can have 50+ units a night out. I ask b/c I see 10* plays on here, 5* plays, and wonder if that poster actually "bets" 5 or 10 units, or just posts it for record purposes?
Everything I have read suggest a one unit per game idea. The reason being, too many units might be on one game. Obvious example being 3 games played, a 1*, 5*, and 10*. Tough enough to go 2-1 (67%) but you HAVE to hit your 10* to make money. And I mean tough enough on a consistent basis, not a run. So 60% over a season is fantastic and a money-maker, but if it's not on a 1 unit per basis, who knows the amount of winnings.
Feedback? Thoughts?

i bet between 1 and 5 units....it all depends on your bankroll. I very rarley bet 5 units but that is my max.

What I do is look at the record for rated plays.Say ones record is as follows:
10* 3-1
5* 7-3
2* 10-8
1*7-10
I only play the 10 and 5 stars.So far its been working excellent.ps I only bet 1 unit

I think bet all the same, unless you have a rare double play.

So if you bet 1 unit 4 days in a row and go 4-0, then bet a 5* and lose, you hit 80% but lose 1.5 units. Curious if others think this is the way to go?

that is true but i wouldnt do that, if i went 4-0 and won 4 units i would never risk losing that money on 1 play. I would continue to bet 1 unit maybe 2. I played a 5* the other night on the gators and won, to be honest with you i can not remmber the last time before that game that i had a 5*. I usually stay between 1 and 3*'s mostly 2*'s though.

Well regardless of the unit numbers, I just think that if people are in for the long haul, it isn't a good idea to adjust ones bets (unit wise). You will always need to hit a better % on your higher rated plays. To me it's not that much different then chasing.

i disagree...you just need to know when to play games for more units. And NEVER chase.

If you "KNOW" when to play more then 1 unit, why wouldn't you just play those games?

FWIW,

i'm sure you saw my cheeseburger rating system. Its worked for me in the past but this year i'm getting smacked bad. At this rate i'll be as thin as JBC in just a couple short weeks. i bet 1-10 units. typically 1 or 2 units per game. i dont vary and dont play the board. But i wouldnt follow my style cause i suck. I'm not mentioning the former posters name b/c I don't want bashing/banning, but read the thread about someone asking questions ooking for someone else. And the thread about someone going to service/pay site. 2k vs posting priviledges with no bashing.
