IMO is an an overrated team. Their offense is unbelievable but their defense is horrible. This is not to bash anyone that likes USC but I believe that if the Trojans played in the ACC or the Big Ten this year they would have at least one loss and most likely 2. You can't win week in and week out with a defense that is as bad as USC's in a conference other than the one that they play in. The previous 2 years USC teams had great defenses but this years club has to outscore everyone that they play to win. I am not saying that they aren't going to win the national championship but I am saying if they had to play better teams every week like in the ACC or Big Ten then I believe that they would definetley not go undefeated but since they play in the Pac 10 where everything is about offense they can get by without having a strong defense. USC doesn't have to play great defense because the teams in this conference just don't play good defense and they can just outscore them. Like I said before, they could easily win the national championship because that is one game and they will have a month to prepare for the team that they face and I am not saying that Texas or any other team in the country will beat them but just stating my opinion that if they were in a better conference they would not make it to the title game because I believe that they would lose at least one conference game. CFB should have a playoff system and then the team that plays the best would end up the national champion. Teams like Penn St(1 loss at the buzzer at Michigan), Ohio St(should have beaten Texas and lost at Penn St), Notre Dame,and Virginia Tech(1 loss to Miami) would then get a shot at the title. Their are other teams out there that could also beat anyone in the country but the powers- that-be want that bowl money and the fans want a playoff.

Again, I am not trying to offend anyone!!!!!

lewis, very politely said, if not well said. you give examples of better conferences but leave out the SEC? the ACC is overrated, period. i'm not even going to get into it but before yesterday, i thought it was the big 2 ( i don't even count va tech because i can't even remember them beating ANYONE, hell when USC spanked them in the kickoff classic the other year, they didn't even get credit for a good win). the big ten is and has been down for a while. i think we are getting to a stage of more parity in colleges except for some top programs. i am a USC fan and i know they have been "less than stellar" in some of their wins BUT they beat ND IN ND and you say ND would be a more deserving national champ. game team????? plus, how hard do you think it is to keep a streak like this going??? i think there have been like 5 streaks this long or longer SINCE 1900......btw, come this week, the pac ten will have three teams in the top ten, more than anyone else....

but I never said that ND would be a more deserving team but I said that there should be a playoff where teams like ND and Penn St would get a shot at the national championship. The Pac 10 is all about scoring so that fits right in to this years team because I am positive that their is not another team in the Pac 10 or any other conference with the talent that USC has on their offense. I agree that there is plenty of parity in college football and that is why I think that anyone in the top 10 to 15 schools could win the championship this year but they won't get the chance because we have bowl games. I love bowl season because i like all the games but there has to be a way where they can incorporate a playoff system and still use the bowl games.

my bad, i misread it or mind was already thinking of a response..lol. i understand your thinking but don't agree with two pts. one, although i said there is parity, i don't think the top ten to fifteen, maybe parity with the "AVE" teams, with the top 4 or so being a cut above. secondly, i don't think their def. is quite as bad as you're making them out (or, in fairness to you, the way they are playing) i think in a big game, they'll step up, the way they did against cal. i just really think it's hard to get motivated EVERY week when you are scoring fifty a game....
i would be in favor of a playoff, IF IT'S NEEDED. this year though, i think you'll have two undefeated teams who are clearly deserving to play for the title. hell, there are going to only be a couple of one loss teams, everyone else will have two or more so i think this year is fine. last year i think a 4 team playoff would have worked, but i don't agree with an 8 or 16 team playoff. you'd have teams with 4 losses in that type of system and they IN NO WAY deserve that shot.
