I think a baseball player has as many opportunities to get hurt in 162 games as a qb does in 16
    Farve...

I agree all the situations listed are very dangerous and have the ability to cost a baseball playe a start, but how often do each of these occur in a game? Not counting turf (how many games did Farve have to play on Philly's old turf) the most common would be the double play ball, but that means Ripken gets knocked down once, maybe twice a game.

How often does Farve get knocked down a game? In addition, usually when the SS falls, he falls on top of the runner, when Brett Farve falls 300lbs+ usually falls on him....

That being said, they are both very impressive streaks and will be very hard to break.

I am going to give the nod to Ripken, only because in the case of baseball the player has only one day to recover from an injury and/or not play because he is sick.
I know that in football injuries are more serious and especially so with quarterbacks.
Then again, re: sickness, I think since baseball is played just about every day as opposed to once a week in football, the odds would be greater that during Ripken's career the chances would have been greater that he would have been too sick to play on a given day than would be Favre.

Savage, this is one poll that it would be hard disagreeing with anyone's opinion. Both records are amazing.

Brett Favre. Nobody is trying to rip Cal's head off on every play!

                          AGREED

It would have been interesting if that was the 3rd option.

Farve is da man. Being hit by Sapp and company in that division- should have put him out long ago. Both are energizer bunnies- but Ripken doesn't take hits from many as Farve has. Both impressive but the nod has to go to the how many times (frequency), mass (weight) and speed that an opposing force has been made on each player. Ripken mostly had to keep stretching and stay in the best shape to do what he did plus minimize any of the above. He's smarter than Farve. Farve is like Smokin' Joe Frazier. Gets hit alot and counter punches.
