Tuesday's List of 13: Nobody asked me, but.........
              13) Instead of sending turf guru George Toma to LSU to work on the Saints' "home" field,, how about sending him over to Foxboro to grow some grass on the middle of the field? It is a disgrace for an NFL field to look like that, but now that Colts are gone, maybe it will miraculously improve.

              12) When USC visited Notre Dame, the field looked the rough at US Open; maybe Charlie Weis could send some turf to his old pal in Foxboro. The wins by Indy and USC show that the little baby games they play to gain an edge don't mean a hill of beans if you don't have real good players.

              11) College football officials need to stop calling penalties for excessive celebration when kids score touchdowns late in a close game. The call against Vanderbilt Saturday night was borderline corrupt, it was so wrong. Players are the show, the reason 70,000 people (or more) are in these stadiums is to see them play. If they make a game-changing play, not letting them show joy hurts the game, in my opinion.

              10) I am surprised neither CBS or ESPN picked up So Carolina Florida game this week, as Spurrier hosts his old team for first time. LSU-Alabama and Georgia-Auburn are also this week, so a huge schedule of SEC contests are on tap.

              9) Now that Steve Spurrier's Gamecocks are bowl eligible, it is interesting to see that he has a 6-6 bowl record, but none of the six wins are by less than 15 points. Spurrier once took a Dave Brown-QB'd Duke team to a bowl; go figure. The job he has done with this Gamecock team is exceptional.

              8) Some college football folks fear that a playoff system will be a drain on the regular season. They think there is really an elimination/playoff system of sorts now, which makes every Saturday pretty dramatic. I think a playoff system would be a better thing, bit I picked the Saints to win Super Bowl, so.....

              7) AFC East is only division with no one over .500. Patriots still lead, at 4-4, with no solid challengers behind them.

              6) Nobody in the history of NFL needs a bye week more than Jim Haslett.

              5) Teams that have started 3+ drives in enemy territory have won 33 of 42 games in NFL this season. Of course, Saints did and lost, failing to score on three drives that started in Bears' territory. Will Aaron Brooks ever get benched?

              4) Jets were another team that lost while starting four drives in Charger territory Sunday; they scored 10 out of possible 28 points on those four drives, and lost 31-26. Capitalizing on a short field situation is easiest way to post NFL upset.

              3) Last year, the pair of NBA teammates that had the best plus/minus (scoring margin) while on court together was the Suns' Nash-Marion (+664). Year before, Cassell-Garnett led the league at +569. Lot of parallels between this year's Suns and last year's Wolves, which could be bad news for Phoenix.

              2) To show that this is indeed a great country, two Carolina Panther cheerleaders were arrested in Tampa early Sunday morning, after a brawl in a nightclub, caused because the two cheerleaders, in town for Panther-Buc game, were holding the rest room line up by having sex in a stall. I don't have a good enough imagination to make this stuff up.

2a) My question is, how did these girls get fired, but Terrell Owens only gets suspended? Cheerleaders need a union....

              1) What promises to be an unusual college hoop season gets underway tonight, with Cornell-St Francis PA and Syracuse- Bethune Cookman. With so much realignment this season, the conference season will be much different than past years, as new rivalries are formed and new stars emerge.
