      Thursday's Game
While Pitt went to BCS bowl last year, Louisville didn't, because they were in C-USA; now, they are in same league, and get shot to avenge last year's snub. Louisville is bully team, with four of their five wins by 24+ points; they're 3-0 at home, scoring 63-61-69 points, covering all three games- in fact, Louisville covered their last nine home games, all as favorite of 10+ pts. Pitt won, covered last three games to even record at 4-4; they're 0-3 on road, losing by 1-6-8 points. Panthers are 1-1 as underdog this year. Last four Pitt games went over, as did last 4 Cardinal tilts.

Favorites are 8-10 so far this season.
Over is 9-9 so far this season.

        Series Records
-- Pacers, Miami played four times last year; three times they went OT, the fourth game was decided by 4 points, with home team winning three of the four, and teams 1-1 at this site. Indiana won at Orlando last night, while Heat had big second half in win at Memphis.
-- Lakers had OT win at Denver last night; they lost all four games vs Phoenix last year, losing twice at home, 113-110 and 108-97. Suns are without Stoudemire, of course; they lost double OT game Tuesday vs Dallas.

        Totals
-- Under is 11-1 in Pacers' last 12 regular season tilts. Average total in four Indiana-Miami games last year was 193.
-- Over is 8-2 in Lakers' last ten games. Average total in four Laker-Sun games last year was 215.3.

          13) It surprised me to learn that that the New York Times Corporation owns 17% of the Red Sox.

          12) It surprises me that any team would trade for Stephon Marbury.

          11) It surprises me that the current hiring craze in baseball is to hire 30-something males from Ivy League schools. Does Harvard offer a course in scouting the Cape Cod League?

          10) It surprises me that Dick Williams is not in Baseball Hall of Fame. If Joe Torre gets in (0 playoff wins in 12 non-Bronx years as a manager), it better be after Williams (brought Red Sox (first time in 21 years), A's (first time in 42 years) and Padres (first time ever) to World Series).

          9) It surprises me that the Chargers haven't permanently switched to their light blue jerseys and white helmets with the number underneath the lightning bolt.

          8) It surprises me that the Manning family steered Eli away from San Diego.

          7) It surprises me that Carmelo Anthony showed absolutely zero basketball IQ in hoisting up a bad shot with 0:12 left in regulation Wednesday, with the score tied.

          6) It surprises me that Bobby Valentine wants to manage the Devil Rays.

          5) It surprises me that golf is modeling its new schedule after NASCAR's. Who would have thought that NASCAR was a trend setter?

          4) It surprises me that Tyrone Willingham got shown the door after three years in South Bend, but Charlie Weis gets a 10-year extension for coaching the players Willingham and Bob Davie recruited.

          3) It surprises me that schools like Syracuse and Ole Miss fire coaches with winning records, to bring in guys who haven't been head coaches, but have connections to USC. Ever been in Syracuse at any time between November and April?

Syracuse isn't USC and can't be USC. Bringing in a guy who has never been head coach is strange move for both schools, but the Ole Miss thing has better chance to work long-term, since it is lot easier to recruit football players to an SEC school than central New York.

          2) It surprises me that someone would pack up and move to Vegas, to try and become a professional poker player. I know someone who has done this; had I been asked for advice, would have said that it is lot harder than it looks on TV.

          1) It surprises me that Red Sox would want to trade Manny Ramirez. Buy yourself some ear plugs, pencil him in lineup for 150 games and 140 RBI, as well as supreme protection for David Ortiz. If they trade Manny, they'll regret it.
