            Series Records
-- 76ers won, covered all four meetings vs Bucks last yr, winning two at this site by 6,16 points.
-- Spurs eliminated Denver from playoffs in five games last year, after Nuggets pulled 93-87 upset in Game 1, as 7.5-pt dog. Teams split the four regular season games last year. Denver was 2-3 at Alamo last year, losing by 9,28,10 points. Spurs probably get their rings tonight. It has not always been wise to back the teams getting the rings on Opening Night.
-- Suns eliminated Dallas from playoffs in six games last year; visiting team won six of nine games between clubs last year, with teams 2-2 in four games in Valley of Sun. Suns are much different club now, with Amare hurt and Joe Johnson in Atlanta, but they'll still try to play fast.
-- NBA comes to Oklahoma, as Hornets playing for this year in Oklahoma City (except for six games at LSU). Hornets in flux, since they traded starting C Magliore last week- they were bad team last year, going 16-24 vs the spread at home, and lost two of three vs Sacramento, splitting pair in Big Easy. Sacramento has Rahim now as they try to stay strong while retooling. Two King wins vs Hornets last year were by 36,13 points.

            Totals
-- Average total in Buck-76er games last year? 219.5. Bucks went over in five of their last six games.
-- Average total in Denver's five games at San Antonio last year was 181.4. Spurs' last six regular season home games stayed under, whjile Denver's last eight regular season games all went over. Under was 7-2 in the games between these two Western Conference rivals.
-- Average total in Dallas' four games at Phoenix last yr was 224.3. Over was 5-4 in the nine series games. Four of last five Phoenix regular season home games stayed under the total, as Nash was banged up.
-- Average total in three King-Hornet games last year? 197, but third game went OT (121-117). Over was 7-2 in last nine King regular season road games. Under was 7-3 in last ten Hornet games, as they lacked point guard but now have Wake Forest rookie Paul at PG.

                Tuesday's Game
Underdog covered last six UAB-Memphis games, with Blazers winning last five, last two at this site 17-14/24-10. UAB won last year's game 35-28, gaining 539 yards, 398 through the air. Faves in C-USA games are 7-9 vs spread this season. UAB lost three games in row, allowing 28.3 ppg; they're 1-2 on road, 2-4 vs I-A teams, and gave up 329 rushing yards in last two games, which is bad news vs Memphis' prolific RB Williams. Blazres gained 417+ yards in each of last four games. Memphis won three in a row at home, three of four overall; they've run ball for average of 317 yards per game over last six contests; since they're using a WR at QB now, due to injuries, they need to run the ball.

Tuesday's List of 13, notes as the NBA begins
                  13) Pistons coach Flip Saunders was once coach at Golden Valley Lutheran College; he was 91-13 in four years there.

                  12) Mike D'Antoni will probably wind up as an assistant on the 2008 Olympic team, since he coached eight years over in Italy, where he went 178-64. His knowledge of international play is sorely needed by American teams.

                  11) Gregg Popovich is regarded as one of finest coaches in NBA, but in seven years as coach at Pomona-Pitzer College, he struggled to a 69-110 record; he was 16-12 his last year.

                  10) Jeff Van Gundy's playing career, such as it was, included stops at Menlo JC, Brockport State and Nazareth College.

                  9) Stan Van Gundy's coaching career has included stops at Castleton State (61-18), UMass-Lowell (54-60) and one year at Wisconsin (13-14).

                  8) On November 13, 1983, Clippers traded Swen Nater and the current Hornets' coach, Byron Scott, to the Lakers, and got in return current Wizards' coach Eddie Jordan and Norm Nixon.

                  7) Celtic coach Doc Rivers played on the last Clippers team to post a winning record; unfortunately, it was 13 years ago.

                  6) Orlando Magic coach Brian Hill was 75-131 in eight years as head coach at Lehigh; Hill's brother Fred is baseball coach at Rutgers.

                  5) Rick Adelman was head coach at Chemeketa CC. in Oregon going 141-39 from 1977-83.

                  4) Cavaliers' head coach Mike Brown went to high school in Germany, at Wurzberg American School.

                  3) George Karl coached two years in Spain; Minnesota coach Dwane Casey coached for four years in Japan, after he got in trouble with the NCAA, while an assistant at Kentucky.

                  1) Karl and Phil Jackson both coached here in America's 2nd favorite city, Albany, NY. Karl was 76-24 as head coach of the Patroons; Jackson was 117-90 in his 4+ seasons here.

Thanks Spark, pretty interesting stuff right there! It's amazing some of the routes these coaches take to get to where they are now!
