    Savage,

They already have that technology. Russia was bragging of weather manipulation in the 50's. China has the technology to manipulate weather, and so does the United States.

Prayers are with you guys in the south Florida Area. The good news is that it is weakening and the hurricane force winds extend out 15 miles (Katrina 105 miles) from center. It should weaken.

    God Bless,
    dave

Maybe I'm just not up to speed, but control Mother Nature??? I have serious doubts about this but could be enlightened...next thing you'll tell me is other natural disaters can be controlled or manipulated...

I'll stick to my conspiracy theories regarding Vegas...LOL

Russia was bragging about lots on things for decades. Much of what they bragged about was BS.

I don't believe we or anyone has the technology to alter hurricanes or break them into smaller hurricanes. Hurricanes are enourmous in size.

Finally, I have mixed emotions about the hurricanes. Yes, they are devestating but they've been occuring longer before humans walked on this earth.

Mother nature is warning us. Her warning is we've fucked with her earth long enough.

Same is true with forest fires. Forest fires happen for a reason. For some trees to reproduce it can only happen with extremem heat.

                    Because it doesn't exist.

Let's get real! I truly can't believe some think the technology exists to alter hurricanes. What drives hurricanes is the tempature of the water. Not the tempature on the surface but 100s of feet below the surface.

Frank, maybe you are right. However, to change the subject, do you believe the technology existed to come out with fuel efficient cars long before they were produced (eg the Honda Insight, which I currently own and wasn't marketed until 1999)? I do for one.
Although hurricanes are not cars, I am still skeptical sometimes of certain things in our society and am of the opinion that big money interests(eg oil companies) sometimes control a lot of what goes on.
Back to hurricanes, I am not a scientist, but somehow I think that if the government had made some real efforts since the talk of the fifties, it would be further along than it is right now in finding a way to diminish the impact of a killer storm especially a hurricane for which there are several days to take steps(unlike say a tornado).

I agree. There's been a conspiracy for years to keep them out of production.

I simply don't see how humans can alter hurricanes.

If so, then how did even the idea of seeding them come into being some 50 years ago?
Doesn't something seem wrong when you send spacecraft millions of miles into space, make huge advances in medicine, prolong life, etc., and yet can't at least partially control an event which is not man made?
