  • Greatest Home Run ??

I still think that Kirk Gibson's HR in the World Series when he crawled to the plate was the greatest of all time (at least my lifetime). However, that HR by Pujols last night was amazing. EVERYBODY thought it was over heading into the 9th. How silly does Berkman being player of the game sound now??

    Any thoughts?

I said to my gf, they shouldn't have announced POG when it wasn't over yet. She said, they just jinxed it.

!st time since April 2003 Stros lost a game at home when leading going into the 9th
        Good Luck to everyone

        Clark: What's steroids?
Richie: Something that makes your pee-pee smaller.

It was before my time but Carlton Fisk's "waving it fair" in 75' in game 6 before Boston eventually fell to the Big Red Machine was pretty sweet too!

I am biased of course, but it is tough to beat Fisk's homer in the 6th game of the WS considering what a great game it had already been up until that point.

1951. The shot heard around the world. Bobby Thomson's home run off Ralph Branca to give the N.Y. Giants the pennant.

My personal favorite was 1998 Robin Ventura's Grand Slam Single that led the METS to a game 5 win over the braves in the bottom of the 9th. (mets went on to lose the next game and get eliminated)

                      Great question.....
Here's something interesting that may spark someones memory or expose them to some "history".

Being a Cardinal fan my whole life..............last nights was by far the best!! Of course I am very opinionated, I followed the A's when LaRussa was there so the Gibson HR was nothing but a horrible memory. However, as Great as both of those dingers were................as a baseball purist I must go with Bobby Thompsons "shot heard round the world"! Best part about Alberts dinger was that the Stros had "punched" their ticket and they were sure they were on their way. Now if my Cards ride uncle MO all the way to the World Series.....Then you have to call that shot the greatest ever. Because then it changed the whole outcome of the NLCS! None the less, its only the beginning of the Pujols legend, just glad to have seen it!
