  • Possible World Series

Could you imagine if Houston takes out STL in the NLCS. Some of the pitching matchups could be the greatest EVER. Let alone the greatest in the WS.

Just remember I'm only 25 so if someone older has any info to correct me please do.

If Houston does finish it tonight I think it would look something like this. If I'm correct WOW. But I'm not writing off STL yet. HAHAHA

    Game 1 Oswalt vs Burhrle
    Game 2 Clemens vs Garland
    Game 3 Backe vs Garcia
    Game 4 Pettite vs Contreras

I'm way to young to know that Frank. If Hous holds on do you think these matchups will compare to them? Where they entertaining to watch?

                In 5 games

                Baltimore scored 9 runs
                Mets scored 15

Mojo, I was 9. Back then the WS games were all played during the day. I remember playing on the school yard when I heard the Mets won the series.

Another interesting note. All 5 games were played in 2:33 hours or less. Unlike the marathons of today.

2.5 hours. Fast. Thats like a Burhrle vs Johan matchup today.

Maybe we should ask Spark. He had to be about 79 by that year.

                      J/K Spark

Jason Lane out at the plate.

                        Griffey,
Should be interesting what the Sox decide to do. One thing I'm certain they won't do, is wait until game 4 to start Contreras. He may very well start game 1, as he'll have 5 days of rest, and that would set up Buerhle with 2 home starts, where he is much better. If Houston wins tonight, my guess is Oswalt/Clemens/Pettite in the first 3, and if they lose tonight and win Wednesday, I'm thinking Clemens/Pettite/Oswalt. The Astros could still start Pettite in Game 1, as he'll have his normal 4 days rest after pitching tonight.
