1* Astros to win World Series +140
In all five of the series that have now been concluded, the team with the better starting pitching and closer has won, including several dogs. if Houston wins one of the last three versus the Cardinals, this trend will be 6-0. In a Houston/White Sox matchup, I think the Aastros have the best pitching (quite a statement because the Sox have the second best pitching staff in the league). Clemens-Oswalt-Pettite rate a slight edge over Buehrle-Garland-Contreras but the big edge is with the closer. Lidge is outstanding and Ozzie's afriad to even use his inexperienced pen. The White Sox are -120 faves to win the Series right now. That means Houston will be around +100 or even -110. But because the Astros haven't put away the Cards yet, the number is currently fattened up at +140. This all backfires on me if the Cards win one of the next three but I don't think that will happen.

Opinion only: Astros intonite's game and UNDER in tonite's game

Gris - I don't think it's a matter of Ozzie being afraid to use his bullpen, at all. But when your starting pitchers are so dominant, it's hard to take them out. Buerhle only threw 99 pitches, Garland retired the last 10 men he faced, Garcia retired 15 of the last 17 and was never in any trouble (and he's married to Ozzie's daughter or cousin or something), and Contreras retired the final 15 hitters.

Also, people keep talking about how great Lidge is, and while he's got fantastic stuff, he hasn't exactly had an easy time of it in the playoffs so far. He's allowed at least 1 hit in every postseason appearance so far except for the first game he pitched, and in that one, he walked 2 guys.

When it comes to World Series, both teams are inexperienced, with exception of Clemens & Pettite. And as far as closers so far this season, the Yankees had a better closer than the Los Angeles Angels of Orange County of Anaheim in Southern California or whatever they're called now, and the Angels probably had a better closer than the White Sox (K-Rod over Jenks). It can be also argued that Hoffman is better than Izzy (toss-up) and that Izzy is better than Lidge (another toss-up with almost identical numbers).

I always wish people luck, and I hope you win every bet.....except this one!!!!!!!!

Should be a great series....I've got tix to game 1...hoping Contreras/Buerhle vs. Clemens!

        Adding!

I'm going all in on the Astrros. The number just jumped up to +130 at Royal Sports; I can't resist that on Pettite given how well Houston has been playing.

        1* Astros +130
