Rams (2-3) @ Colts (5-0)-Martz' absence throws Ram coaching staff into limelight; their DB's are so bad, hard to imagine Peyton not throwing five TD's here, especially since his only previous game vs Rams was 42-17 beating at Jones Dome three years ago. If Rams gave up 28 at 49ers and 44 at Giants, Colt WR's might be fighting in huddle to get plays called for them. Expect St Louis to run ball with Mad Mike out of play-calling equation, as Indy has allowed 109+ running yards in three of last four games. Colts outscored foes 44-6 in first half of games; in 20 opponent drives that started 80+ yards from end zone, Indy has allowed one field goal.

Monday's List of 13, summing up Week 6 in NFL
              13) Giants are now 3-14 in games following their last 17 byes; they forced turnovers on three of first four Dallas drives, but couldn't cash them into TD's, which proved costly later on. .

              12) Excellent set of early games, with games in Pittsburgh and Dallas going OT, the Saint-Falcon rivalry providing one more stirring chapter, and Chris Weinke leading Carolina to the TD that wins the game, thanks to great clutch WR, Ricky Proehl.

              11) Aaron Brooks went on for a while after game, saying the Saints still would rather play its home games in San Antonio than Baton Rouge, that he'd call Paul Tagliabue about it on Monday, and inferred that the refs have it out for the Saints, after a controversial call provided Atlanta with winning FG. After he calls the commissioner, he'll probably be writing him a check for the comments about officiating.

              10) Bitter loss for Saints, who gave up a TD on blocked FG, and also gave them a defensive TD. New Orleans outgained the Falcons 456-266, held Vick to 4.4 yards per pass attempt, while running for 211 yards themselves, all to no avail.

              9) Detroit scored two defensive TD's and still lost, as time is running low for the Harrington Era in the Motor City. He set up Carolina's first TD with a fumble inside his own 10. Of his 157 passing yards, 87 came on one play, and Detroit failed to score an offensive TD, despite that 87-yard pass.

              8) Can we arrange a game between the Vikings and Texans? Or at least a job fair for their soon-to-be-fired head coaches.

              7) Seattle ran ball for 320 yards Sunday night; that just does not happen much in the NFL. They had a second-and-goal on the Houston 23, ran a simple end run, and Alexander scored, with very few hands laid on him. Discouraging effort.

              6) Minnesota averaged 3.8 yards per pass, ran ball 19 times for 80 yards, converted 3 of 16 on third down. Think they'd take Randy Moss back?

              5) Jacksonville already has two road OT wins, as they head into their bye week with 4-2 record, off wins vs Bengals and Steelers, who are combined 8-1 in all other games.

              4) Denver averaged 10.2 yards per pass attempt, ran ball for 178 yards, the held on for dear life, surviving the worst field position of any NFL team Sunday (average start point, their own 17-yard line) in their 28-20 win over New England.

              3) Speaking of field position, Bears, with a 15-yard advantage in average starting point, led the league Sunday. They started their drives at the average, on their own 44-yard line.

              2) The sight of Norm Chow, his offensive coordinator at USC must have done Carson Palmer (27-33/268) a world of good, as Bengals scored 24 second half points and rebounded from their first loss of season with a very good road win.

              1) If you have DirecTV, watch the Chargers; LT is as good as Barry Sanders or Emmitt Smith was; he is on his way to being one of the all-time greats. Think back to the epic trade with Atlanta; the Falcons got Michael Vick, the Chargers basically got Drew Brees, Tomlinson and some other stuff. Would the Falcons like to re-think that deal?
