And Chuckie, I disagree that the Angels win was a lot of luck. They are VERY good team, as are the White Sox, that plays small ball and does the right thing. To say Contreas had one bad inning is what us Yankee fans were saying throughout his stay in NYC. The guy always looks great but will have one bad inning that cost his team. He had avoided that during his great second half run. He is NOT a big game pitcher and that will come to light.
I didn't say LAA weren't a good team..I said the same thing that Byrd said after the game...He threw some bad pitches that got hit out to the outfield like a rocket ony to be right at some one. Contreras will be back cause this series isn't even close to being over.

The series isn't over at all! I do think however that Contreras might be a good play against his next start as well!

I don't know if you are serious or being a wise ass.

No system is going to cover every game. Under normal conditions the answer would be yes. I'd look to make a play on the Saints. In this situation it's tough to make a play on the Saints due to the homeless factor.

IMO when a running back is only as good as their offensive line. An average back will look like a star running back behind the Cowboys offensive line of the 90s.

The fact of the matter is that Contreras had 1bad inning and The CWS hit the shit out of Byrd but right to his players.....The CWS also ran the self out of alot of innings.
          Don't surgarcoat it anyother way....
LAA got the win by great coaching by Mike S. and alot of luck.
Chuck, I agree with what you say why the Sox lost. The Sox lost because they were flat. They played poor disciplined baseball.

But Shorty is dead on. It was poor reasoning to expect the Angels to be a tired flat team. They were neither. As I stated in your thread yesterday, I've seen too many times. The team sitting around waiting for the other series to end comes out flat in game 1.

I think the "system"(if you want to call it that) means that if a team is playing well or reasonably well BEFORE the team loses its star player, then many times it is not a good idea to go against that team at the very least in the first game or two when the key guy is out.
Obviously if a team really stinks before the "key" player is hurt, the "go with the injured team" thinking might not apply as much.

Bottom line, White Sox did not do the small things and it cost them the game, while LAA did and it won them the game. It was a good game and exspect more of these type games for the rest of the series.

While I didn't play either side last night, another reason that I didn't play Chicago is that Anaheim prior to last night had been on a 4 game winning streak against Chicago, having swept these guys in a 3 game series in Chicago in September. Going against streaks like this is a risk I don't personally like to take.

I agree, it's one game. I bet on it based on the Pitching matchup, that's all. I lost, some one. It's just another game and today is a new day!

Contreras pitched very well. In his "one bad inning" the Angels didnt even hit a ball hard. The two runs they scored were on dribblers that hardly made it back to the mound. The White Sox lost bcse of a lack of two out hitting and some costly base running blunders.

I completely agree the travel regimends were completely over blown. the Angels have won and will only continue to win if their bullpen stays pitching well.

i will take Contreras in the next game he starts as well...

i did not know all this would arise...............to simplify it, like frank said, all i was trying to say is that I personally fell for the stupid travel/tired crap and i respect those that didn't

anyone who took the white sox for your own resons not related to that is not the target of my email.........like wayne said, it is one game, today is another day, lets move on

Thanks man. And seriously it was just a lucky pick. I took it only because my local guy only offers run linee. Had it been a money line, maybe a small play on Ana, but not laying that wood.

My thinking was seriously this (and not 100% sure this happened). I would like to think that Byrd did not travel with the team. I would like to have thought that Mike S and his staff sent him to Chicago a day early. Personnally, i would have (but then again, maybe that's why i don't coach). It actually was hard to play the Angels b/c of the travel.

The under came from the fact that i always get burned on overs.

Thanks again, new day, lets lock and load and forget about the past.

Byrd was warming up in Game 5 of the NYY series when Santana showed signs of not pitching well early.
