Wayne,
You are correct, I can not name another sport where in prime-time where the house loses every play (teasers anyway). What percentage of bets they took last night were on teasers? Probably not that high. The line was also being pounded yesterday on the Cheargers, so I doubt they took a complete bath. Remember, sportsbooks look at the big picture as well as day to day business, they don't have to win everyday to have a great year.
My opinion is still that teasers are sucker plays. Lots of times they will win, but I have a feeling that if Vegas was losing money on them, they would stop offering them. I think that my favorite is when someone teases a spread that is higher than 20, or a total that is higher than 50. (Obviously that happens in college much more often than NFL)

Probably not that high on Teasers? Are you Serious? People LOVE Teasers and i bet thousands of bookies got hammered with them along with Vegas and all the offshores. Both sides were hammered last night. Alot of money was on Pitt. too. It didn't matter after taking a 100% bath on teasers. They still were not happy.
P.S.
Gambling in itself is always a sucker bet, every night! I bet 80% or more of the people that do it daily .......... LOSE!

Wayne-
Point taken. I will continue to belive that they are sucker bets, you will continue to like them. No problems. I can respect your point of view. If I keep replying to this thread I might have 20,000 posts too. As it stands I am still single digits in posts, and I have alot of respect for you. Good luck on your plays this week.

I'm starting to believe the same doesn't hold true in the NFL.
First, the talent in the NFL is so close. As the old cliche says "on any given Sunday". Games are often decided by a few points.
Secondly, in the NFL teams are very relectant to run up the score. Very rarely do you see 52-3 scores in the NFL. There's more blowouts in college. The talent discrepancy is wider in college.
Third, the NFL game is shorter than college. In the pros they only stop the clock on incompletions. The stop the clock when a player goes out of bounds only the last 2 minutes of each half. IMO that leads to closer games.
Finally, IMO there's more FGs in the pros than college. That's another factor that keeps games close.

Pro football is a very conservative sport. Case in point is the Pittsburgh games last night. Once Pittsburgh got the lead all they did was run the ball and throw short passes. As soon as SD got the lead, Pitt went the length of the field in under a minute and scored a TD. At the end of the game, the same thing, drive down kill the clock and kick a field goal. Against NE they scored too quickly and left Brady over a minute and kick the winning field goal.
If you think, Peyton Manning isn't capable of scoring like he did last year, think again. Their defense has improved to the point that the coaching staff won't allow him too. It was much more entertaining watching him last year. That's the reason College football is so much better to watch. If they were to put in a system rewarding a team for the number of points they outscore their oponent, you would see a lot more scoring and better games to watch.
