  • Question for the "vets" of handicapping

Love this forum. I read alot but don't post much. With the season I'm having in foots it's better for you all that I don't post my plays (unless you fade them)!

I have a serious question though. Why do sportsbooks who seem to be getting all the money on one side change the line to favor that teams side? For instance the N.E. / ATL game today, N.E. started out at -3 and now they are at -1 despite 74% of the money (sportsbook.com) being on the pats. Same thing happening in the PHI / DAL game despite 83% of money on the Eagles?

Thanks in advance for any thoughts.

you're putting to much faith in the place where you got the % betting ratio....some are put there by bookies for that purpose, and some (most) are simply full of BS.......

Public money, or Parlance Players (smart money) plays...no has ever accurately differenciated the 2....If you play by line movement only, you could be in for a long season (short career)...

Do your own capping, pick who you like based on opening lines established by the oddsmakers, and go from there...lkapt

      Thanks Kapt

I appreciate the advice. I was looking towards ATL Vick or not(looks like not as per ESPN) with their ability to run and then I saw the disparity (or alledged) and thought maybe a trap was in place. I must be thinking too much. Anyhow thanks again

This is often debated. I wouldn't trust the info the Vegas and offshore books release.

To be honest I like Atlanta more. NE is not that good defensively. They prepared to play vs Vick all week. Schaub is a the better QB. Vick is a better running back
